Since all Oregon government departments must be self supporting ..... with rare exception they can not run a debt either.  Have $$$ or close.

RV campers will pay a little more at some Oregon state parks in 2021 -...

Alternatively, maybe they could add a $0.01 surcharge to each Starbucks order..... ;)

Classic government response to lower demand - increase prices.

I see no mention in the story of mismanagement, corruption, or other 'self-inflicted' damage to the finances of the park system. IMHO, if the $3.00\night increase for electric and full hook-ups will help the park system bring back the nearly four hundred full time and seasonal workers that were laid off because of circumstances out of the system's control, and in doing so open the parks, keep them clean, safe, and functional, I do not find that unreasonable.

Oregon State Parks are a bargain, IMO; some are 'better' than others, of course, but, overall, the  locations, facilities, site quality, management, and pricing are superior to many other states' systems. If Oregon decides to reinstate the non-resident fee, I'm happy to pony up!

I do wish the state would let me pump my own gas, though!  ;)

YMMV, as always.

Us Oregon folks will never have pump our own gas "it's too dangerous."  <smile>  And beside that we'd get wet.   As sweet as we are we'd melt away to nothing.
