2015 RB Closet Door
So-Cal Girl

In an effort to preserve the previous RB thread, here are some details of the 2015 RB closet door.

The door is hung with with five hinges to carry the weight of the door. They are mounted in such a way that the door swings to the right and latches on the bulkhead nearest the refrigerator.

From the galley side you can see that the door allows space above and below to preserve ventilation. The closet has three wide drawers at the bottom for storage.

The door when fully open cuts off the rig and prevents access to the fridge. Easy enough to open the door for items. 😉

I’m posting pics so I hope they help.

Thanks Kent! I appreciate the description and pictures, that’s a nice design change.  My kitchen has the sinks, stove and refrigerator on the same wall. Is it still the same?  When the door is closed, does it go straight across or is it at an angle?

Not Kent, but RB owner here. The closet door, when turned into a dressing room door, goes straight across from the back side of the dinette to the wall between the stove and the refrigerator.  The fridge is inside the dressing room.

And yes, the setup is still the same.  On the passenger side from front to back is a couch (chairs are no longer an option), the door, the sink, stove, refrigerator, then shower.  On the driver side is a bit longer couch, then the dinette, the closet, and the toilet.

Regarding the fridge, when the bath area is closed off, no one can access the fridge unless the closet door is opened wide enough.

No big deal.

Wasn’t a big deal to me either but it was to DW which was one of the factors in the choice between the RB vs. the MB.  For some reason, she didn’t like the idea of the fridge being in the bathroom when that door is closed. 🙄

I like the update. I don’t think I would be able to add it to my 1991 since I don’t have a wall that protrudes between the stove and refrigerator for the door latch. I suppose I can talk to LD and see if they have added it to any of the older rigs.  I can always look for that in my next LD. 😘
