Waitlist
Sorry if I am posting in the wrong area. I just called the mothership to find out about my standing on the waitlist. Of course, it is impossible to know when you will receive the call. Todd did mention he is getting ready to call people for the 2022 models. If you have been on the waitlist for a while you may be hearing from the mothership soon!

Cheers

Around the Campfire is fine, Julie. Thanks for sharing this "inquiring minds" information.

I called Todd yesterday to discuss a few things about my current 2003 LD.  Asked about my location on waitlist, still pushing 2 years.  He said that covid issues and supplier issues have slowed them down considerably.  Asked how many units were they putting out each week, but declined to answer.

I called in about 6 months ago.  Since I just sold my business and am semi-retired I am considering selling my 30IB and getting a used class A for longer trips.  Then move back to a LD when it comes available.  It would be interesting to know how many RVs they are turning out.  I think the pandemic and supplier issues have really reduced their output.

I think output was already fairly low before COVID, especially as compared to the big mass producers. I’m guessing when Vince left it slowed them down even more.

I believe that for the past few years that LD has had limited E-450 chassis allocations as Ford chassis production had been reduced.  The pandemic just made a difficult situation worse.

We are "on the list" however it hasn't been quite a year yet. Almost but not quite
Unless many drop out I suspect we are in for a long wait still.

I have been on the wait list since October 2019, 16 months now.  At that time, Todd thought it would be about a year before they would start building the unit.  That date was moved back to November 2020, then December 2020. In taking to Todd in January 2021 the new date I was given was February 2021. Todd thought that it would take 5 to 6 months to build the unit. That means from the time I got on the wait list to delivery, it will be 22 to 23 months time.  Hope this sheds some light on the matter.

Got on the list early July 2020, hoping to have it late in 2022, but at this point, I can accept it anytime in 2022.

While I’d prefer a new unit, starting to wonder if I should be looking for a used TK.

We are just behind Paul.  We don’t want one until at least the end of 2021.  Our retirement date will be firmed up as that date gets closer.
We might have to start retirement before we get our LD - figuring things out when we are closer to that date.

I got on the list for a 27 MB on August 21, 2019.  At that time (pre COVID) I was optimistically expecting delivery before the end of 2020.  Todd called me 2 or 3 weeks later and said that someone had backed out and he had a 27 MB ready to be delivered.  That was way too early for me so I passed.  I still needed to sell the house, plus I wanted the 2 barrel chairs option and really was hoping for the new V8 engine.  On October 29, 2020 I got another call from Todd saying that someone else had backed out and that he had a 2021 Ford V8 cutaway available if I wanted it.  The only thing was that it didn’t have the driver-assist technology package.  That was OK with me and I jumped on it.  Delivery is now expected in June or July of 2021.  Like they say... patience is a virtue and good things can come to those who wait 😁

I often wonder how much longer Steve is going to be willing to continue the business, he's not a spring chicken and isn't in the best of shape, someday in the next few years, the doors and gate will be locked for the last time.
If on the "List", I would have a Plan B, just in case.

Phoenix Cruiser was sold a couple years ago to an independent investor.  The new owners have done a good job maintaining the product between the rails.  They just moved the factory to a larger building.  If Steve has any inclination to shutdown one would hope he would try to sell it to an independent buyer to keep LD going.  That would be nice for its dedicated customer base.  Don’t want another Born Free situation.
