"Waterhog" mats
I use these mats in the house and in the LD; they're waterproof, easy to clean - vacuuming and/or hosing and scrubbing - and they're virtually indestructible. Downsides - but not major, IMO - are that they are not inexpensive and the large mats and runner can be a bit heavy/awkward to haul in and out of the rig. There are several sizes, patterns, and colors to choose from.

So how do they feel to bare feet? Rough? Soft?

The mat surface is very firm, a bit rough, and, depending on the pattern stamped into the surface, somewhat "bumpy". I don't go barefoot, so the surface feel is not an issue for me, but it might be for others.
