More 96 RB Electrical ?? December 10, 2020, 07:15:51 pm My NTM (New To Me) 96 has some gremlins, as I expected in a 24yr old MH that’s been sitting ~12yrs. As there still seem to be no drawings furnished to customers we rely on assets such as this forum, thankfully it & you are still available.I’m trying to knock the grimlins down one at a time, but I get easily side tracked.My main focus at the moment....there seems to be no power to the switches by the door, the floor lighting, the step, the outside light & the ceiling light over the galley. All fuses are good & have power. Any suggestions before I start the wring out process ?

Reply #1 – December 10, 2020, 08:53:44 pm I have found that switches can quit working if they are not checked and maintained regularly so the spade connectors may need cleaning (pink eraser and/or electrical contact cleaner available at the big box stores) and make sure they fit snugly (not loose). We have found more issues at switches than at what the switch is running.So I would start there. At the same time you can confirm that there is voltage going to those switches. Jane 1 Likes

I believe that LD daisy chains wiring out of a load center fuse all the way to the end item. Are all of these non working items in a string off of one fuse? Look at connections just prior to where the first non working thing is. I'm sure you have a voltmeter, and with that collection of previous RV's you have more experience than I do. Good luck! Reply #3 – December 11, 2020, 10:11:25 am the manual won't have such detailed schematic, also I have a feeling each rv has a slightly different wire path from each other.I would first start by checking with a voltmeter the connection from the fuse box. Mine has a fuse for all front lights and one for the back.Apart from lights it also happens to be the same fuse for the fan in the bathroom since it's in the front area. However I have had an issue myself where a fan would not have a good negative cable connection and that turned off all the lights that were next in the chain for the negative cable.Note that the negative cables follow a different path than the positive cables. so you may have the fuse box with positive cables to a light and then to a fan, but the negative current could be going the opposite or even completely different device.So just start at the fuse box, then see if anything in the front turns on, if it does, then with the voltmeter you can connect the positive side to the dead light and the negative to the working light and see if that reads right and then the opposite.Also some voltmeters have the option to check if you are touching the same cable from two ends, this is really helpful to find and kind of draw a schematic for it
