I presume by "clean water" tank you are speaking of the fresh water tank and not the Gray or Black water tanks. Is that correct? The simple answer is 'You don't', you can leave drinking water in the fresh water tank indefinitely, presuming you sanitized it before hand. But if you should have a need to drain the tank for some reason, there is a drain valve which will do that.
Re: Empty Clean Water Take Reply #2 – February 25, 2021, 05:26:03 pm If you want to drain the water out of your fresh water tank on your midbath LD, on the driver's side there is an exterior storage compartment below the battery compartment; open that compartment and you should see a lever that has its handle sticking to the left. That is a gate valve. Turn the handle so it points down and stand back ; the tank will drain through a pipe that comes out below that compartment. Re: Empty Clean Water Take Reply #4 – February 26, 2021, 09:16:03 am I keep mine full prior to use I put bleach/clorox drive it to swish in the tank..then dump it. Refill enough to swish the tank, run through the cold water lines only , dump and then fill. I have known people who found mold because they did not keep the fresh water tank sanitized. Some never dump it.

We live in earthquake country and want to keep the LD loaded with crucial supplies, including water, gas and propane. The water tank gets filled as soon as we get home from a trip..The water tank is rotomolded polyethylene and does not support life. Looking into the freshwater tank with a remote camera shows a very clean tank.Larry 1 Likes

I fill at state parks mostly because they have treated water. At my house my well has a lot of iron, the tap from the house has water softened water which can be salty at times.

I usually drain mine for this reason. In a freezing climate, when not using your LD, it should be winterized. That includes draining the water tank, and the other tasks winterizing entails. There are plenty of discussions about winterizing in the archives.The original question in this discussion was from someone who didn't know *how* to drain the fresh water tank after returning from a trip. My original answer to "how to drain the fresh water tank" was meant to answer the question of where the drain valve was and not whether or not the original poster should drain their water tank. Apparently some folks in warm climates never do empty the fresh water tank preferring to keep the LD ready for adventure or emergency use. Your question is more about winterizing.
