Ford E-Series Sales Decreased 50 Percent In Q2 2020
Interesting update on Ford E-Series Sales. Since by all reports RV sales have skyrocketed it would appear that diminished output due to reported supply and labor issues were at play. Or maybe this is just the new "normal".

Ford was shut down for Covid from mid March until May 18, so that probably had a great influence on 2nd qtr sales. Not just diminished output, but NO output.

If you look at the sales chart on that webpage, every company’s sale figures were down, no doubt due to the COVID shutdown.

In addition to the plant shutdown, every industry prediction in April was that vehicle sales would plummet for the rest of 2020.  There were calls for a Cash For Clunkers 2 program. 

I think production was slow to ramp up again because everyone was scared of being stuck with inventory. 

Obviously that's the opposite of what really happened and new car inventory is lower now than it has been for a long time.
