LD 31' - Bigfoot Levelers
When I finally get my LD 31 I want to add the Bigfoot levelers to my rig. I've seen a number of posts from owners that have put them on the shorter LDs, has any owners installed them on their 31' LD? If yes, any issues/challenges with the installation, or problems using them during camp trips.

I have the kick out type levelers on my current rig, they work OK, but I don't like that I can 't put a pad under them; every time I try it kicks the pad out of the way, not enough clearance. Bigfoot seems like a better design.
Have an awesome day!

Bigfoot = NO. Kwickee = Yes, and I have had very few issues with them since day one (2004).  ;D

YMMV but I have a concern about the added weight of levelers.  My rig weighed 12,800 with gas, propane and not a drop of water.   On the road for longer trips  I am always near or at 14K which puts me uncomfortably close to the 14.5K GVWR.
They would be convenient, and if I had a shorter rig would probably have them.
cheers.

I have a 27'MB.  Yes, weight is a factor, but so is convenience.  I have the Bigfoot levelers.  I can use a site that someone else relying on blocks would have to pass up.  I am in one such right now.  I weigh in close to the limit, but I am a fulltimer with everything I own on board.  A few hundred pounds for the levelers is, to me, a really good deal with no reservations.

I say ditto to what Ken says about Bigfoot. I had the Platinum one pump manual control on my previous rear bath and it worked well for ten years. I never had a problem with the single pump. It is a lot less weight than the four pump system. To level I had placed a bubble level on the dash for side to side leveling and another on the drivers door for front to back leveling.  I just recently had Bigfoot install the central pump auto system on our new rear bath which weighs the same as the manual system. One pump is all that is needed. The auto system can also be controlled manually if desired and there is a lifetime (whose lifetime, theirs or mine?) warranty on the jack cylinders. Frankly, I could have stayed with the Platinum system. On our last trip I used the jacks several times. In a couple of locations I had to use the Utility Block (see photo) that Bigfoot sells for additional height. What I like first is the rope handles on these blocks for placing and removing under the jack pads and second, locking groves in the pads to keep them centered to each other. I had used wood blocks in the past which was okay but they could break on uneven surfaces and slip off each other. If ordering the Bigfoot system specify getting the larger 10" steel pads.

Thank you all for the input and information, very helpful. This is what I love about the LD Owners' Group, so many are willing to share information, ideas and opinions, which is very helpful when trying to make decisions and plan for our first LD. I just hope I get the call before I'm too old to travel!

There is at least one 31' unit with Bigfoot levelers on it - Steve and I strongly considered buying it a few years ago when we downsized from our Foretravel.  I'm pretty sure someone on the forum bought it.

We looked at a 31 LD with Bigfoot Levelers couple years ago in Kalamazoo Michigan.  The owner loved them and thought they made it easier to level and stabilize the unit.  The control box was kept under the drivers seat.  Not sure which Bigfoot unit they had.  To me for a LD that long, levelers are needed.  One just has to watch to keep the LD within weight limits.
