Buy a few 2x4's and sandwich some of them into a 4x4 that is the length of the rear overhang plus about 8 feet. Then, use some plywood pieces the width of the bumper height above ground plus 3.5", and use them to attach the 8' 2x4 to the 4x4 assembly so the 2x4, on the ground, will hold the 4x4 above the ground at the same height as the bumper clearance. Then rest the 2x4 on the bottom of the driveway and see if the 4x4 hits the street. If it does, shorten it to match the overhang of a 27' unit. Try it again. Then you will know if you are going to drag and by how much, or if you will clear.Cheap, quick, easy and dependable...If you need a better description, or a sketch, let me know.

I am in the desert, uneven terrain, hydraulic levelers, and my rear bumper is only a few inches from the ground. Hopefully someone else will be able to chime in. I would expect that there will be little change between the 25, 27 and 31 foot models in terms of clearance. Likewise, I would bet that the difference with full or empty tanks is only an inch or so, and you aren't building a watch. What you are after is an approximation. The rear overhang length will vary considerably. On my 27' MB, the rear overhang is 110". That should be the same for all the 27 foot models.Ken F in NM

I would think the distance would be the same?"Lisa, since the poster is trying to figure out what will drag at the rear, I'd say the measurement from the ground to the bottom of the 2" hitch along with measurements from the ground to the bottom of the skid guard and the bumper would be helpful. I basically need 4 numbers: A B C front bumper____________wheel_________________dual rear wheels_________rear bumper D D D D Droad____________________________________________________________________________________________ roadA = the distance from the front bumper to the 1st wheelB = the distance between the front wheel and the dual rear wheelsC = the distance from the dual rear wheels to the back bumper (hopefully 110 inches)D = the distance from the ground/street/carport to the bottom of the rigI hope this makes sense. The distance from this center to the rear bumper is the number you will need. Once the rear wheel touches the angle of the road it will maintain that height.
