Units of Measure for LP Gas April 06, 2020, 12:22:27 pm Upon our return from the Morro Bay GTG we parked the LD in the drive and walked away. Fully intending that I should move the old gal onto her parking pad and connect to shore power to keep the batteries up that did not happen. But of course the fridge continued to eat away at the LP until the SeeLevel said "Zero".A drive across town to the bulk dealer was a waste of time when we were turned away due to the fact that they were closed to on site sales.I knew of a retail dealer and so that was our next stop. Got the tank filled and when presented with the tariff I noticed that the quantity was "15.5" but there was no unit of measure. What relevance does 15.5 have in reference to out LP tanks?
Re: Units of Measure for LP Gas Reply #1 – April 06, 2020, 01:10:21 pm That is most likely gallons of propane. It is remotely possible that it is weight but at about 4.15 Lbs LPG per gallon, you would have taken on only a little under four gallons if that were the case. Warren

Interesting. The "max fill" on the LD spec sheet says 14 gal. I've never put more than 8-10 gals at a time in and always wondered what an empty tank would take.Chris

Re: Units of Measure for LP Gas Reply #4 – April 06, 2020, 02:12:12 pm Your 2004 LD has a 17 gallon propane tank. Since the recommended maximum fill level is 80%, it should take about 14 gallons. So at 15.5 gallons, you may have gotten a bit of an overfill. For what it's worth, every propane seller I've ever dealt with has measured it in gallons. Their equipment wouldn't be able to measure pounds directly, but a flowmeter can easily measure liquid volume.
