Historic Manitou Springs 2013 Flood
We were camped at Pike's Peak RV Park in Manitou Springs the day of the big flood. Our LD was backed up to the river bank.   Since we were visiting with our daughter in Colorado Springs that day we had no idea there was a flood that afternoon at the campground. Going back to the campground that evening we were stopped from entering Manitou Springs by  the police as the whole town had extensive damage. I called the campground and the owner said our motorhome was OK as the water level never got above the front cab entry step. So we stayed with our daughter that night and returned to the campground the next morning. We were very lucky as no logs floating downstream hit the LD.
We later learned that our motorhome had been on the national TV (NBC) coverage. (see youtube link below) A friend found the video used by NBC on YouTube and sent to me today.  What was interesting was in the mud left behind it appeared to be a scattering of gold dust. Several people filled buckets with the mud to try panning later. The campground had all the mud cleared by early afternoon. Downtown wasn't so lucky. It took weeks to clean up there.

Pretty cool, Mike.  I wouldn't have sold her.  After all, perhaps "There's gold in them thar hubs."

Ken, as always your responses are "Spot On!" I love it. Hopefully we will have continued interesting adventures in the future with the next LD that we should pick up sometime later this year when construction is completed. Hopefully, one day we will cross paths again. Our Florida ranch full service campground is always available for you if you ever go east of the Mississippi River.
