Water regulator and fresh water hose - Amazon recommendations April 25, 2020, 08:12:05 pm OK LD experts I need Amazon recommendations for Fresh Water hose and Water Pressure Regulator Here is am again! The current situation - I am flying out to AZ to pick up my new to me RV (2000 IB) this coming up Saturday May 2. To catch you up to speed - I purchased this RV about a month ago and it has been in storage in Scottsdale AZ since then. I am still in contact with the previous owner. Since we are flying out and taking off back to WI the same day I am trying go get all my ducks in a row to minimize stops and make sure I have mostly everything I need. My friend lives in Scottsdale so I am getting some things Amazon'd right to her house. I asked the previous owner what is all on board regarding sewer, water, electrical hookups. He confirmed full kit of sewer hoses / connections are there. Extension cords and adapters are present. EMS is an on board permanent installation. But he said he is not sure if there is a fresh water hose and suggested I buy one and a new regulator. So, here I am browsing Amazon and have no idea what is good quality, how much hose should I anticipate needing, what regulator to get. And the shipping needs to get there before Saturday May 1. Hence, my time crunch. With non-essential items taking longer to deliver I am nervous I will end up at Walmart or Camping World with a poor selection. If anyone wants to chime in with Amazon recommendations for Fresh Water hose and Water Pressure Regulator I would be forever in your debt!!! ... update 10 min after origiinal post... As I am reading a little bit more -- is there a way I can fill up the fresh water tank without worrying about the pressure from the spigot? Then I dont have to rush and buy a regulator? 1 Likes

Re: Water regulator and fresh water hose - Amazon recommendations Reply #4 – April 26, 2020, 11:11:58 am I found the Camco water filler to fill slowly, both because the deviceâs hose is of smaller diameter than a water hose and because the hose tends to fold in half under the weight of the water fill hose. The alternative, holding the water hose to relieve the weight and prevent flow restriction, prevents the user from tending to other tasks while filling the water tank. Based on another LDOG member post, I purchased the following two items and have had great luck. Essentially, a tasteless hose is connected to the double-female adapter which is in turn connected to the Camco âWater Banditâ. The Water Bandit is then inserted (twisting the bandit while doing so helps) into the LD fresh water fill hole. Re: Water regulator and fresh water hose - Amazon recommendations Reply #5 – April 26, 2020, 11:18:01 am I hasten to add... It is important to monitor the water tank filling process and avoid over-filling. I usually do chores outside the coach and check frequently for the tell-tale gurgling sound indicating almost full. I then put hand on the hose and remove when or just before drops first splash from the tank vent. 1 Likes
Re: Water regulator and fresh water hose - Amazon recommendations Reply #6 – April 26, 2020, 01:30:02 pm I'll have to admit that the Camco Tank Filler is a pretty sad example of what is a very good idea!Taking matters into my own hands I went to the hardware store and bought the appropriate parts with which I assembled the same functional item but with better specifications. My device is ¾" inside diameter (for greater flow rate) and a brass coupler with on/off valve. An appropriate length of clear plastic hose and a hose clamp completed the list. Now my 'filler' resides, along with my other fresh water paraphernalia, ready for duty. 2 Likes

The city water connection is prone to leaking and campgrounds can have significant water pressure surges that can overcome inexpensive pressure regulators and damage the LD's plumbing. Repairing leaking fittings is a difficult and potentially expensive project, depending on what pops where. The older the rig, the more likely problems will arise.Larry 1 Likes

Another way to fill the freshwater tank is to reconfigure the freshwater tank's drainpipe, adding a bottom fill connection. Our filler has a control valve and a quick-disconnect hose fitting for use with a garden hose. The hose is connected and water turned on, the control valve is then opened, allowing water to flow into the bottom of the water tank unrestricted. Open the water fill door and removed the fill cap to relieve pressure buildup in the tank and watch for the water level to rise to the filler opening before turning the water off and shutting the control valve.Sound complicated but it is simple to use, filling can be much faster and doesn't require standing with a filler in hand.Water tank filler- bottom fill. | FlickrLarry 2 Likes
Re: Water regulator and fresh water hose - Amazon recommendations Reply #11 – April 26, 2020, 05:31:41 pm I’ve eliminated the issue of physically monitoring or holding the fresh water hose while filling the holding tank.My solution? Velcro. Simple solution. Very inexpensive and utterly reliable. I use a shortened Fresh Water White Hose that connects to my two stage water filter system. Here are a few pics of the Hose/Velcro set up.Kent 2 Likes
Re: Water regulator and fresh water hose - Amazon recommendations Reply #12 – April 26, 2020, 06:17:23 pm I can’t be the only one that just sticks the end of the hose into the fill port and lets it hang there? Has worked for us for 13 years. You just have to adjust the flow rate so it stays put and you’re good to go. I threw out the slow-flow filler attachment I had initially bought after the first frustrating use. YMMV. — Jon 3 Likes
Re: Water regulator and fresh water hose - Brass water filler Reply #13 – April 26, 2020, 07:44:12 pm Just after I picked up our 2010 RB and returned home I needed a better way to fill the fresh water tank. I believe it was possibly Terry Tanner that had posted his solution for this task. The main problem was that the filler neck to the tank made a 90 degree downward turn about 10 to 12 inches in from the inlet. This causes a water backup if the input volume is too high. I followed the instructions to build a rigid 1/2" copper tube filler wand with a 90 degree fitting on the end to direct the water directly down into the tank. See attached photo that shows two units. The longer (14") one stayed with the RB we sold last December and the shorter (12") one will be for our new RB when we take delivery this fall. Parts needed: 12" copper tube; 90 & 45 degree 1/2" fittings; brass 1/2" threaded to hose thread adaptor; and a brass ball shutoff valve. I silver soldered all the fittings as shown. This allows filling at full hose pressure with no back flow. 2 Likes
Re: Water regulator and fresh water hose - Amazon recommendations Reply #14 – April 26, 2020, 08:24:19 pm Regardless of whether you're filling the fresh water tank or hooking up to city water, be sure to wipe/sanitize the faucet first. You have no idea how many times we've seen a dog either licking the faucet or peeing on it. In one quick moment, we saw a dog do both! So, consider what you're using for fresh water. I added a 1/4-turn PVC ball-valve, next a PVC tee with the female quick disconnect, and finally another PVC 1/4-turn ball valve before terminating with a short piece of PVC pipe out the bottom of the exterior bin. The quick disconnect is isolated due to its high potential for developing leaks, especially as the o-rings age. The assembly was wrapped with pipe insulation to slow down its freezing. The other quick disconnect is for a water hose and sprayer.Exterior water spray | FlickrLarry 2 Likes
Re: Water regulator and fresh water hose - Amazon recommendations Reply #17 – April 27, 2020, 12:32:10 pm When filling the fresh water tank, I use a KDF filter, with a water pressure regulator before the filter to prevent high water pressure from damaging the filter. The filter works better with moderate water flow.Water pumps are unreliable. A water pressure regulator is also nice to have if one is forced to connect to city water until the water pump can be replaced. 1 Likes As an Amazon Associate Lazy Daze Owners' Group earns from qualifying purchases.
