Inverter Squeal
Twice on the trip to CA and back (home tomorrow night), after a day of driving, when I shut off the engine after a day, the inverter under the refrigerator squealed loudly and when I opened the door to exit, the electric step would not extend. Restarting the engine caused the step to work OK. No noise from the inverter when restarting the engine. Thoughts?

Many inverters squeal when the battery voltage is too low.
Low battery voltage, from lack of charging, or failing batteries are two possibilities.
What is the battery voltage when the inverter is on and under load?

Aha! I'll have to check the voltage when I get home or when I unplug. Cursory checks have been OK. My bats are 6.5 yrs old, and since I didn't fill them before I left for Morro Bay, I filled them there and they have never been so empty. Took about ⅓ gal. distilled water. Wonder if they were damaged. Anyway, it's about time for new ones. Thanks, Larry.
