Re: Picking up our new LD on Thursday! Reply #28 – November 17, 2019, 10:20:17 pm Hey Jimmy and Lynn - Congratulations on your new Lazy Daze. My husband and I will be picking up ours on December 20 and we can't wait. I had a few questions and maybe you can share your experience: 1. Did you hire the ICC driver and take ownership outside of CA? If so, how did that experience go for you? 2. Did you mail any supplies to the mothership to outfit your rig? if so, any gliches?3. How did you handle the walk-thru with Todd - take notes? video? (Seems like it will be info overload - we are RV newbies and expecting to be a bit overwhelmed by it all!)4. Do you have any general insights you could share that you wish you knew about before pick up? (I have been reading this forum for the past year or two - and have read most of the owners manual - so I'm trying to prepare myself the best I can!)Thanks in advance for any info you can share - and happy travels!Connie and Kevin 1 Likes

We decided to pay the taxes and NOT hire a driver so I can’t offer anything concerning experience with a driver except to say that Todd mentioned that sometimes those who hire drivers are rushed. We had lots of time and were on our own schedule which was nice. I did video a few things but the manual is well written so that helps a lot. Taking notes for me would have been difficult I think. I only took video of those things I thought might be needed and the rest of the time we were just doing everything hands on ourselves while Todd walked us through everything. A lot of things are pretty intuitive. As far as supplies are concerned, we flew Southwest on a Wednesday (gotta get away far). We were able to check 2 bags per person at no additional charge. So we had 4 large suit cases each weighing about 45 lbs full of stuff we knew we would need (sheets, blankets, towels, a few kitchen supplies, hiking stuff, etc). We purchased the heavier/bulkier items from Walmart once we took possession (pot, pan, trash can, soap, paper towels, etc). We also purchased some things from the Mothership store. We got gas at Costco. OH... BTW.....the Arco that was recommended for propane is under construction so we ended up getting our propane at Shell. Everything went super smooth. Hope this helps. 1 Likes

That helps my anxiety level by getting a feel for how smoothly things went for you on your pick up. I think we are ready to do this thing - and whatever we didn't anticipate we will deal with as it comes up! Let the adventure begin!Connie and Kevin 1 Likes

Re: Picking up our new LD on Thursday! Reply #33 – November 18, 2019, 08:06:06 pm Hi Jimmy and Lynn. It is supposed to be raining Thursday in the LA area. We picked up ours in light rain and the mothership had scraps of cardboard. That didn't work very well!. Took a while to get the carpet (light blue) clean. Fortunately they don't use carpet at the entrance anymore. Take at least one sacrificial towel, there will be a lot of foot traffic in and out. Enjoy your new baby. Take pictures! Re: Picking up our new LD on Thursday! Reply #34 – November 18, 2019, 09:47:32 pm Connie and KevinCongrats on your upcoming adventure with your new Lazy Daze. Marie and I picked ours up on June 12, 2017. We flew out to California from Florida and stayed at a Marriott the night before the pick-up. We brought a couple of extra bags with linen, pillows and clothes. It was our 1st RV, so I wanted to stay close to the Mothership in case I forgot anything that Todd walked us through or there were any issues, so we stayed at a KOA close. Todd was awesome and took his time with us. I took some videos but had also read the manual several times before we arrived, so I was well prepared. Todd directed us to a place to fill the propane and we stayed in the area for three nights before heading home. During those three days we picked up some pots and pans, food and a few things we couldn't get from the Mothership and then took our time, going to Phoenix to see family and Albuquerque to see friends before heading home. We were out for 17 days without a toad and had a great time. We took it easy to break in the engine and when we got home to Florida I had the base plate attached to our Sonic and the tow bar to the LD. We were home for 10 days and then hit the road for a 16-week adventure to see all our families in Minnesota, Michigan, Cape Cod and North Carolina. We've been out for two other summer trips; one for 15 weeks and one for 10 and we're in the process of planning our 2020 travel for 14 weeks this summer. Life is more than good; it's great.Have fun.David and Marie 3 Likes
Re: Picking up our new LD on Thursday! Reply #35 – November 18, 2019, 11:52:20 pm Jimmy & Lynn K,We typically get our propane at Costco - all Costco's might not have propane but the one in Montclair has a tire center so they might. Check - that might save a stop.Jane 2 Likes
Re: Picking up our new LD on Thursday! Reply #36 – November 19, 2019, 10:56:17 am BTW you can shipped a few boxes of your must have items to the factory ahead of time. They are very flexible about that sort of thing. <smile> in fact the put our boxes next to 'Baxter the travel turtle'. But I had to load them ........glen 1 Likes

Re: Picking up our new LD on Thursday! Reply #39 – January 26, 2020, 11:09:43 am Congratulations Lynn! I wish you a wonderful delivery experience and a safe drive home.As to the somewhat tangential naming gender discussion, like Jon & Loni’s Albatross, we chose a gender neutral name - “Wapiti”, which means Elk or, more specifically White Ghost in the Shoshone/Crow Native American language. And, like Greg, we cling to our boating past-life vernacular using terms like “Shore Power” and Head . 2 Likes
Re: Picking up our new LD on Thursday! Reply #40 – January 26, 2020, 12:33:07 pm Dave,We picked up (Yes, Joel it was heavy) our ‘15 RB October 29, 2015. We placed our order on September 4, 2014. There was no waiting list back then so the wait was14 months altogether. It’s was quite the wait.Since the wait list was established it appears the build time (including the wait period) has been between 11 and 14 months. With your wait time calculated into the equation, it appears you are 4-6 months out from your delivery date. Plenty of time to read the LD manual. I keep a digital backup of mine with me at all times. It’s come in quite handy. Hope this helps.Kent 3 Likes
