UltraGuage MX V1.4
Hi All,
Just finished installing the UltraGuage in our 2005 LD’s. I want to thank all of those who must of spent a considerable amount of time researching the transmission temp parameters and then being so gracious to share them on our forum.  I was going to originally purchase the UltraGuage EM, that doesn’t support the trans temp. But since we tow our CR-V  I’m, some what, concerned with not only the LD’s coolant temp but also the tranny temp. Now with the trans temp information I can make an informed decision of when it may be better to unhook and drive the CR-v separately on those stepper grades.
So, thanks again to Ed&Margee, Ken F in NM and CBSSDShermans for all you shared regarding the UltraGuage.

As MacMarty mentioned, the engine and transmission temperatures displayed on the UltraGauge are very helpful.  We also like that our UG reports we don't have any check engine codes, which is very reassuring.   During our configuration exercise, which was actually considerable, Ken Fears did all the research to find a configuration that would show the transmission temperature on our 2009 Ford E450.  If it had be left up to me, we'd still be using square wheels.  Finally, we rank the value of the UltraGauge equal to the value of a TPMS.  Essential equipment.

I've towed a CR-V for the last 9 years and a Honda Accord before that with our '02 30'. It's traveled over many of the mountain passes in the West, especially here in Colorado, and I've never had any problems, tranny or otherwise.

MacMarty, glad it worked for you.  Just curious - which of the four codes worked?  On my rig it was #1, and on Ed's a year newer, it was #3.

It was #1.  Ken, if you know, why does UltraGuage give two tranny temp parameters 1F & 2F ?  I used the M4 parameter position, as noted on their pre programmed parameter chart.  Thank you again for sharing all you research with the forum members.

Macmarty, this is a guess.  I think pre-2008, they provided two pre-programmed M-gauges for the trannie temp, M3 and M4, to fit more models.  After 2008, variation increased and rather than try to keep up, they just left the two M-gauges there and gave a few hints about re-programming for other possibilities.

Bottom line, I don't know.
