Great video on Atwood water heater repairs - everything you wanted to know
I stumbled upon a great RV video on water heaters that I though I would share.

He is refurbishing an older water heater and talks about all the components and shows where he saw problems to fix.
Very good details.

It is a longer video but the last 5-10 minutes is about the electrical portion (for a water heater that is propane & 120V).

The only thing I am not sure he covered was cleaning and lubricating all the electrical connections (he does a problem one but I am not sure if he did them all).

He does discussion/repair of:
-- The igniter tip spacing.
-- The air intake and adjusting it for different altitudes.
-- Replaces the relief value (was dripping and made a huge mess over time).
-- Takes out the metal drain plug and puts in an Atwood recommended plastic one.
-- Flushes the water heater (though he didn't add vinegar to do a better cleanout).
-- Talked about cleaning the flue.
-- Corrected some thermo fuse problems.
-- Inspected and replaced the thermostat & ECO thermostat.
And I might have forgotten something.

I would recommend everyone that doesn't have a pretty new rig to check this out - so you know what to look for when you are maintaining it (or when you are double checking what your maintenance guy is doing to make sure they did a complete job).

Be also has a great video on the refrigerator which helped me get mine up and running

That is nice to know.  I took a quick look for a refrigerator video by the same guy cause I would like to do the same check/overhaul of ours but I didn't find one.  I will go back and do a through search.

I found the water heater one as we had ours go out. We believe know the issue but have not confirmed it with new parts yet (that will happen today) but with this nice video we are also going to replace a couple minor parts that have gone missing over the decades or are not optimal. Then it should be good for another 20-30 years. :) Jane
