Tail light not working
I installed LED tail lights on our 04 LD a couple of gears ago and have had no problems with them until recently.  The right rear outer tail light does not come.  All three others come on. Turn signals and brake lights work on all four rear lkghts.  I have switched out the LEDS to be sure the blub was good. In testing the wires with a volt meter, it appears that a white wire (ground) may have been shorted or come loose within the rear wall of the LD.  As mentioned by others in the past, it is an irritating fact that LD leaves almost no excess wire to work with. It may be necessary to get into the wall cavity to locate and fix this problem.  It would be helpful to know if I cut a hole in the rear wall from the interior, will that provide access to the tail light wiring.  I think it should but like some assurance before removing the rear seat in our rear kitchen layout in order to get into the wall.

Comments from anyone who might have some experience with this would be helpful and appreciated.

There is a ground wire in the rear side running lights of my ‘03 that came loose on me.  The light would go in and out, wiggling that ground wire would fix it.  Eventually I replaced the screw securing that wire with a larger one that wouldn’t wiggle loose.  No problems since.

I’m not even 100% sure which light you are referring to, but it might give you a place to start.

No experience with a RK's tail lights, but most LDs, in the lower rear wall, driver's side, have access to the tail light wiring and the junction where the wires split and cross over to the passenger side tail lights. There may a cover that needs to be removed to access the wiring, inside the kitchen cabinet.
The tail light wiring on your 2003 comes down the driver's side.It would be worth looking at the lower rear wall on the passenger side, under the seat, there is a small chance there may be access there too

Hi Jim.  The problem as I see it is the right rear (passenger side) outer running light doesn't come on.
If the turn signal/brake light does work, it isn't an open ground wire. If it were the ground neither the turn/brake or running light would work.
" it appears that a white wire (ground) may have been shorted or come loose within the rear wall of the LD".   Shorted to what? another ground?  That wouldn't be an issue unless something else became disconnected. Lazy Daze uses white for the ground.  The running lights for LD i've seen is a light brown wire and also runs the five red marker lights, two side marker lights, the five amber lights in front and both amber lights in the front corners as part of the two turn signals.
You can undo just the three screws holding the light can on to the back end cap. (The whole wall.)  It sounds like you are using LED light bulbs in the original fixture, as opposed to the entire light being a new LED 4" diameter fixture.  I would suspect that the solder blob as one of the two connections on the end of the bayonet base socket is damaged and not contacting the LED bulb properly. I think that there isn't actually a wiring problem in the wall at all.
Usually I get these lights. Just a little more money, more work, but a better end result.  Round LED Truck Trailer Lights - 4" LED Brake/Turn/Tail Lights - 3-Pin....   RonB

I found the contacts inside where you insert bulb to be spread too Far apart..with lights off I used a very small flat blade screwdriver to bend( slightly )the tabs. I have not had a problem in the left two rear running lights since doing this.....2004 26.5.

Thanks Fran, you have the same year LD as Jim in N.C so very likely a similar problem.   RonB
