1999 Lazy Daze - Newbie Needs Help!
We recently acquired a 1999 Lazy Daze. It only has 26,000 miles on it. We recently got it back from the shop and everything is ready to go. We are getting new tires on it tomorrow.

I know NOTHING about motorhomes. I know this MH has a generator, a propane tank, and two batteries. How does everything work? I understand when I am at a campground and I am connected to electric and water then everything is being used from there. But what about when I am not at a campsite. Does everything run off of the generator? If so, what is the propane used for and what are the batteries used for?

Welcome to LDOG and congrats on your new-to-you Lazy Daze. What floor plan do you have?

You most likely have an operating manual for your LD. I suggest you read it cover to cover and you will find many of your questions answered. Members will chime in and be glad to help you learn, but try to digest the basics first. Google is also your friend when on a learning curve.

All 12V appliances (lights, water-pump, ...) run off the coach batteries.  When they are depleted or if you need 110V e.g. for Air conditioning you turn on the generator. Driving will also charge the batteries.

Do not deplete them more than about 50% or they will fail prematurely. A status panel, usually above the range, tells you about battery and other levels (water, propane. ..).

Good luck, you are ahead of me with LD adventure...

Propane is used to fuel the cooktop, furnace and the water heater.  Don't be shy about asking any question on this site, as it is very friendly and supportive.

Yes, the above resources are your best bet. I have learned a LOT in the past two months since owning our LD. If you have a manual, read a chapter or two each evening and highlight areas of extra importance as a reference. Also, the search function on this forum will be able to answer a multitude of questions. If you are going to own an RV you need to put the homework in.
