LD - A Sanctuary August 28, 2019, 03:20:27 pm About 5 years ago we made the decision to bring Margee’s younger sister to Fort Worth from El Paso because of her serious problems due to memory loss and deteriorating health. As others on this Forum know, this would be a huge responsibility but Margee said that’s what sisters do for each other. Our RV travels during these last 4 years always had an emergency plan to get Margee back to Fort Worth in case of a serious problem with her sister. That was just part of our travel plans. The responsibilities for another adult is heavy, frequent, stressful, and immensely wearing. Many here know that all too well. But again, Margee said that’s what sisters do. On Sunday night, her sister passed away after 4-5 days of struggling. Margee was at her side most of that time. Immeasurably wearing physically and emotionally. Monday and Tuesday we cleaned out her room in the memory care facility and for 2 days closed down her sister’s life. We both experienced sadness and relief among some of the many emotions. Now we’re waiting for the death certificates to finalize things. Everything else is done. So today, Margee joined me in our LD (aka Katie Belle) since I had a couple of projects to do. I might mention that Our Rig has always felt like a sanctuary for us. Katie Belle is cozy, quiet, special. It’s one of our safe places. After I finished one of my projects, I saw that Margee was curled up in the lounge sound asleep. She’d finally let go in Katie Belle. 21 Likes

Re: A LD Sanctuary Reply #3 – August 28, 2019, 06:22:23 pm Ed & Margee, please accept my condolences. When I lost my wife to cancer, someone gave me a copy of this It's OK That You're Not OK: Meeting Grief and Loss in a Culture That Doesn't Understand by Megan Devine. I found it very helpful for the array of emotions tied up in loss of a loved one.Joel 2 Likes As an Amazon Associate Lazy Daze Owners' Group earns from qualifying purchases.
