Issue with propane and hot water heater September 12, 2019, 06:09:37 pm I've been in my 89 Lazy Daze for about 2 months now. Everything has been working fine. I recently had to go refill the propane tank. Rather than driving to the propane place, I just removed it from the RV and took it to the propane company to have it refilled. So, basically, there was about 25 minutes where the propane was not hooked up.I also had accidentally left the water heater button in the on position when I unplugged the propane, and the refrigerator was also on too. I was, however, connected to shore power at the time I unplugged the propane. Now, three days later, I'm having trouble getting the hot water heater to work (and the fridge is not registering the propane at all, though I am connected to shore). I have been able to get a couple uses of the hot water heater, but not consistent. When I turn on the hot water heater button, it doesn't light most of the time now. Before I replaced the propane, I wasn't having a problem at all. I have run the stove, furnance ,etc., that all works fine. It's just ever since I unplugged the propane, refilled, and reconnected, the hot water heater works intermittently and the fridge won't connect to it either.Thoughts?
Re: Issue with propane and hot water heater Reply #1 – September 12, 2019, 08:40:00 pm If the water heater igniter was trying to light the flame over a long period of time, it may have weakened. You may have to try repeatedly to switch the fridge on and off gas mode to get the line purged of air.Steve
Re: Issue with propane and hot water heater Reply #2 – September 13, 2019, 01:37:59 am Thanks Steve. So, I just discovered something new. I checked my battery light, and it's showing low. It wasn't showing low before. I wonder if this could have anything to do with it? I"m plugged into shore power though.
Re: Issue with propane and hot water heater Reply #3 – September 13, 2019, 03:43:02 am Jacob, the light for the hot water heater (just under the switch) should come on (just for a second or so) then it goes off when the flame ignites. But the flame keeps going - heard when you stand by the outside door to the hot water heater (as long as it is turned on, water is not hot, and the water heater is working). Newer rigs I believe have a light to indicate the switch is on but 89 TKs did not.You are saying the light comes on for a second then turns off or that it never comes on now? Do you hear it hearing (small "roaring"' sound) when you stand outside the hot water outside service door / raise up the bin cover? If you search the forum for fridge board you will find some diagnostics that can be done to confirm electricity is getting to the right places.Did you ever run your fridge On electricity before? It should run fine without propane if your converter is running and it is getting electricity (outlets are in the fridge service bin - outside of rig behind fridge).JaneSent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone
