TV August 29, 2019, 03:17:32 pm Which makes more sense, buying a 12 volt tv, or running a 'regular' TV thru a converter? I have done some research but remain somewhat confused as my calculation skills are sadly lacking.I also understand that there are many variables.
Re: TV Reply #1 – August 29, 2019, 05:00:02 pm In terms of electrical consumption, there is little difference. In fact, my 120v Quasar pulls less electricity than did my 12v Jensen. I have the advantage of having a whole house inverter, so I did not need a dedicated inverter for a TV, but I think the issue should be, which TV do you like best?I note that my 24" Quasar was a challenge to fit as a replacement for the 19" Jensen. It required careful measurements, a piece of wood the same length as the TV width to check clearances, and an adapter to fit between the TV's mounting holes and the factory's mounting arm holes.Ken F in WY 1 Likes
Re: TV Reply #2 – August 29, 2019, 06:07:53 pm Modern LED side or backlit LCD screens are much more efficient than the older fluorescent tube models, so that will make more difference than source of power. If you find a great model that uses wall brick that outputs 12V to the set, you might be able to wire it directly into 12V and save a bit of that resource...Steve
