Anyone Added DIY Solar to a LD? How about an inverter?
First let me start by saying that I have installed a few DIY solar systems on RVs. I am looking for some advice on Lazy Dazes in particular. We recently purchased a new to us 05 26.5 MB. We have had a few off gird systems on prior RVs and I plan to do the same to the LD. My main concern is the mounting on the roof and the aluminum. After reading the manual I noticed it noted that the added solar panel had some extra wood or something added in the area to make it a spot to add a panel. I know most RVs, especially the ones with a TPO roof still are able to add solar panels with no issues. So I find it odd that there would be any problems on the aluminum roof.

Has anyone on here added more panels themselves? Mind sharing your mounting method for the solar panels?

Has anyone added an inverter or inverter charger to a LD? I would love to a hybrid inverter system but I'm not sure where I can mount it yet inside the coach. Any ideas or thoughts? So far I think I will use the underneath area of the kitchen. I will probably even turn the bottom cabinet under the fridge into a larger battery bank area.

I have installed a few solar panels on LDs. I glue the feet down with 3M 5200 FastCure and use two #8X5/8" stainless steel, sheet metal screws per foot. It is not necessary to have blocking, under the aluminum roof, to screw into.
The 5200 FC secures the panels to roof's prepared surface, the screws are for extra security and to firmly bed the feet into the adhesive/sealant, during the curing process.

In MBs, the area under the refrigerator is the most logical place to add batteries.
Bigger inverters can be mounted in an exterior storage bin, there is one near the refrigerator that will hold a large inverter and it's various supporting devices..

Thanks Larry! I love 5200 and used it on our last RV Solar junction box, that stuff is awesome. I VHB taped our brackets down to our fiberglass roof and they held up just fine. But I noticed the LD roof gives a little, so I was worried about that. I will probably try the 5200 and the sheet metal screws that you mentioned. I just like to have as few holes as I can on the roof! We have had a leak or 5 in other RVs in the past  :o

Thanks, I have been around forums for years. I did a search and nobody gave much info other than showing them already on the roof. Which is why my OP mentioned wanting info about mounting. Guess I'll try again! Thank you though! Safe travels!
