Oil change required
How does the engine sense as to when an oil change is required? Our 2012 flashes a message on the dash. Is it a function of mileage only. What would the determined mileage be?

The oil change alert is based an Ford's Oil Minder System.   This system will "displays a message in the instrument cluster message center when to change the oil. The interval is determined by time or mileage. There is NO algorithm to compensate for operating conditions."   (The quote is from the following *.pdf file.)   I don't know if all model years of Ford's used by Lazy Daze have an Oil Minder System.   The oil change alert in our 2009 E450 seems to be based on time or mileage.

This pdf file has some additional information that might be helpful.  Hope this helps.

Thank you Ed & Margie. It seems that the OMS (oil monitoring system is based on time and mileage).
