Need Your Advice
Hello, All!  Happy Fourth of July!

We are beginning the process of cleaning up and cleaning out "Wild Thing" in preparation for sale.

Many will recall that we have lived in "Wild Thing" for 7 months of the year (October-May, just about 7 months to the day) since we picked her up from The Mothership in March of 2007, traveling coast-to-coast with layovers anywhere from 2 days to 3 months.   There were a couple of years where we had to divert due to life events.  For those who may not recall, "WT" is a 26.5 MB, of the silver persuasion with the brown interior.

What I need folks' advice on is...as we prepare "WT" to photograph and sell, would buyers be more likely interested, or not at all, to have it turn-key or bare.  We can go with full on linens and kitchen gear to hoses and accessories, or simply bare.   This is not a pricing issue, because the price will be set in accordance with this group's "LD Asking Prices."

So what's the collective thinking on this?

Bare on the inside with as close as you can get to a "new" appearance.   Any accessories you are including could be left in their appropriate storage spot.    Frank

Tina,
If I were buying used, I'd look for all the hoses and accessories that are needed to connect to shore power, water, and sewage.  Definite no to linens.  Kitchen items and maybe storage boxes that fit perfectly in the LD would be nice.

Since most people here own an RV, I think you might get a different answer than if you asked a bunch of people looking but don't own one right now (e.g. they would need to do a full stocking of the RV).

I would go with bare (no matter my situation) - the only exceptions would be things I would need to buy anyway - RV specific items required for use & maintenance  (e.g. hoses, water heater flushing tube, power adapters, etc.).  I would not be interested in linens or kitchen items preferring to do that myself.  Bins that fit into places nicely could be a plus - but I would not have them in the RV for showings (so they can clearly see the RV and spaces) - maybe marked with where they go or with pictures so that serious buyers could check them out.

However, for someone who is keeping their sticks and bricks home and not moving from a different RV into yours, they might want that extra set of kitchen items / linens.  I would suggest not having them in the RV (have it empty so people can see it in it's full potential and imagine their stuff in it not yours, but have it separate (boxes, etc.) and say you will include them for a low price.

When I took Amtrak to SoCal to pick up LDy Lulubelle I was able to check two full-sized suitcases (not knowing what I might need, I packed clothes/linens/some kitchen essentials/some tools/everything but the kitchen sink...which was in the rig) + two carry-ons (backpack full of clothes/toiletries/train food/etc.) with a pillow & blanket bungeed on, and a large satchel with laptop & more stuff)--did I mention a tendency to overpack....  ::)  :P

I was pleasantly surprised when LDy Lulubelle's previous family graciously sent her with mattress pads/sheets/pillows/comforters/bath towels/throw pillows on the sofa/ paper plates/cups/plasticware/yellow leveling blocks/plastic bin in a storage bay with fresh water hose/box of plastic gloves (to use when dumping) /reflecting windshield insert cut to fit the back window/filter to use with the fresh water hose/a jug of rv antifreeze/I forget what else).

I'm still using all the linens/pillows/back window insert, & have added to the supplies in the plastic bin, plus adaptors/heavy gauge orange cord for plugging into the house/foam & big bubblewrap for winter window insulation/etc.  Whenever the time comes that she moves to a new family, I'd plan to send everything with her--'twould be nice if the granddaughters wanted "Grandma's House," but by that time she'll be a geriatric herself & most likely would need someone with the time/know-how/deep pockets to care for a geriatric LD...

Bare or Packed

My thought process -- depends on buyer type.    And you will have no idea of the motivations of the buyer before they come to look are your RV.   My guess is you'll be getting both folks that are dreaming of a full time experience and those folks that are dreaming of 'just' camping for a summer week or weekend and some folks that are just dreaming.

If you market 'WT'  to one group you'll lose the other.   Sooo I'd do what is easiest for you.   But as honest with the buyers about 'problem' issues and highlight your love for 'WT'.   How your feel will sell it faster then how it looks.

In your sales pitch you can tell em you'll be throwing in all those 'extras'.  <smile> cleaning out of your garage all the 'must' have RV gadgets you can't live without.

Good luck - I'm very sure you'll have no problem selling 'WT'.

When I look at stuff to buy, I would like to see it for what it is. Very easiest way to evaluate in my book. But, and I most likely wouldn't pay extra, having the necessity in an action packer thrown in would be a huge plus. Forget the house wares because everyone's tastes are different.

Thanks to all.  We appreciate the opinions offered.

We shall photograph and sell "Wild Thing" in her natural state, although some decorative items may stay because we don't want to damage the surfaces to which they are attached; next owner can remove and/or replace.    We shall include the water, sewer and electric hoses.  We will be including the American flag and pole that attach to the rear ladder...just might as well.  Most other items will be delivered to Goodwill or our Town's recycle swap shop.

And now...back to cleaning out "Wild Thing!"
