Re: Hubcaps (Wheel Covers) and TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) Reply #25 – May 14, 2019, 03:33:11 pm We got home and took the wheel covers off. We noticed a lot of scratches on the wheel itself. The wheel cover is attached to the wheel by a number of small metal triangles which dig into the wheel. Each each time we remove the wheel cover we get a new set of scratched paint on the wheel. We think we'll need to sand the scratches on the wheel. This will be a new adventure for me. Does anyone have suggestion on the process and what paint would work best
Re: Hubcaps (Wheel Covers) and TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) Reply #26 – May 16, 2019, 11:00:52 am A few years ago I had a set of wheels for a classic Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser powder coated. They remained shiny and unscathed through a variety of off-road adventures. Powder coating is more expensive than a coat of paint with a rattle can, but provides a beautiful finish that is much harder than paint. When I sold the FJ40, the wheels still looked like new.On the other hand, if one does scratch a powder coated finish, it is not easily repaired. If my memory is correct, it seems it cost me about $250 for the five wheels.Harold
