Is it worth it to part out older LD? April 20, 2019, 10:49:06 pm I have a 1984 LD 22' Rear Lounge on the Chevy G30 chassis I need to dispose of. Sadly, life got too busy and it is one of those out of sight, out of mind stories where it just sat. It hasn't been run in years and there is some water damage from a roof leak. I don't know if it would be worth it to part out some of the items instead of (or maybe before) paying a company to take it away. Ideally, I'd rather it go to someone with the storage, time, patience, and know-how to recover possibly hard-to-find parts and hopefully make some money off it.Has anyone had any experience in parting out their LD? Any suggestions on companies in Los Angeles or Ventura counties that do this? Thanks in advance for any advice!Jim

I can't find any RV salvage yards in Los Angeles or Ventura. I know the City of LA is having a hard time disposing of abandoned RVs, parked in the industrial areas of the city. The automotive salvage companies consider these units as hazadious waste and refuse to deal with them.An 84 LD is such a rare model today, there are few of them still on the road. I wonder what is actually salvageable, the appliances are all old, the plastic hardware will be brittle. The windows and entry door may be the most valuable parts .With a non-running rig, it will need to be picked by a tow truck, a potential cost to you. Donating it to your local public radio or TV station would be my choice of disposal.Larry 4 Likes

A donation to any non-profit organization will usually provide a small write off.The local public stations are constantly advertising this.Larry 2 Likes

Reply #5 – April 21, 2019, 03:16:33 pm Thanks for the advice so far!I had tried the charitable donation route before and at least the ones I spoke with weren't interested in that age or condition. I found one company on craigslist that offered to take it for $800. I'd hate for them to just dispose of it when there may be parts that could be of use to someone but as Larry said, the demand may be low and the condition may be questionable given the age. That said, if anyone has need of any parts for that era/model of LD, let me know. If it isn't too much trouble to pull/ship those parts before I get rid of it, I'd give you one heck of a deal If anyone has any additional suggestions, please keep them coming!ThanksJim 1 Likes

It is the "Air horn and tubing" which leads from on top of the forward edge of the engine compartment. If you have it let me know and tell me what you want for it.Tom DangeloPoulsbo, Wsshington
