12 volt overhead lights in 1989 22 RB LD
If my memory serves me correctly Larry W. owned a 1983 LD RB at one time. I have an interesting problem with my 1989 model. I installed LED replacement elements in my overhead florescent light fixtures last Spring. They all worked just fine and added a lot of much needed light for my old eyes. However the rear set of lights has quite working and I have no power to the fixture itself, although the "wall switch" marked "rear entry" lights up when I activate it.

I know where the fuse panel is at and everything seems to be in order. Is this a "split circuit system" where in the 2 volt lighting system is spit in half and carried by 2 separate 12 volt "automotive type: fuses.

Thanks

Hi Tom. No split power here. The wires to your light should be red (hot +12 vdc.) and black. (grounded terminal on your battery.)  Partially as a safety factor, the grounded sides of 12 vdc never have a fuse. All fuses and other types of circuit breakers are in the positive side. If the light switch does light up, then the +12 vdc and ground is good there. If there is no power at the fixture, then either the +12v doesn't get to the fixture, or the ground doesn't get to the fixture (or both). Conversion to LED 'bulbs' bypasses the electronic ballast, and each LED tube uses the 12 vdc. separately, so if they both don't work, it is likely a power or ground delivery issue.
To troubleshoot, check at the output of your on/off switch, that the switched hot lead is still connected at the switch. The bulb in the switch is connected internally, but the 'hot' lead going to your fixture could have pulled off. I would check that first. RonB

If you removed the ballast, check all your new splices and wire nuts first. I had to remove one of our fixtures and found where LD had a bunch of ground wires in a single wire nut one wire can easily fall out. Does the light itself have a switch in it and is it still good.
