Anyone know what these are for?
They were stored in one of the dinette benches. They seem to be padded covers for something but I don't find anything in here with snaps they'd go on.

Oh, and f'n awesome: hanging file folder bins fit perfectly in the bench storage. Now I just need a more portable printer/scanner and I will be in business. Literally and figuratively. Two file bins, smallish all in one and desktop shredder will all fit in the bench storage with room left over for the animal food and toys. That means I get the closet and overhead bins for my stuff!

First question.  Vent covers .  Replace the screws in the vent covers with snap-on hardware.  Use the same screws to install the snap-on hardware.

At least some of those are covers for the inside of your roof vents.  Look and you will see where they snap over each vent, and the bigger one goes over the emergency hatch above the cab.  I haven't found them to be all that useful.  Maybe other's have thoughts on this?

Don't know if these are vent covers, but I can comment on usefulness -

Escape hatch - if you sleep in the bunk, in cold weather your breath will condense on the cold metal hatch frame, then drip on you. The cover will prevent the warm, humid air from reaching the vent frame, so little or no condensation.

Vent covers - reduce the mixing of sun-warmed or winter-cooled air next to the vent lid with inside climate-controlled air. Also darken the interior when needed.

Lisa,

Many of us place some type of padded foam insert in the ceiling vents and then snap on the vinyl vent covers. This provides a little more insulation from heat or cold.

Thanks all. I never in a million years would have thought these were vent covers. I thought maybe it was for when someone is really losing it and needs a padded room.

One of them looks like a henway.

If what you are looking for is a combo Printer/Scanner that is small and portable that is a very tall order. However, if you want a small lightweight slim printer you can't do much better than the Cannon Pixma-iP90. It's even wireless!

I have found that camping in an LD greatly reduces the likelihood/necessity of a padded room!

OK, Joel, I'll bite. What's a henway? Path from feed lot to hen house? And please, no more Marx Brothers answers.  ;)

Chris

I was going to bite but I think I already know the answer.  Joel . . .?

I bought a roll of REFLECTIX to make screens all around.  There was plenty left for squares to stuff in the vents behind those covers.  This was a 4x25 roll, but they sell smaller ones.

I'm here in my LD right now! Just made and ate dinner.

I am glad for the vent covers- I hit my head on things so often that my dad actually said I should put a pillow on the ceiling so I don't hurt myself as bad when I inevitably sit up too fast. Now at least I won't hit it on a sharp corner of the emergency exit. I just hope I don't need  to make an emergency exit when the cover is on.

Turns out the odd shaped covers are for the loft side windows. That's nice.

Also discovered the source of the horrible chemical smell- I opened the outside storage compartment for something and the smell was overpowering. Really, really intense smell like formaldehyde with a tinge of bitter almond. It was the brand new, still in the packaging sewer hoses I bought last weekend. Unbelievable. I put them outside where I hope they offgas enough to store in a week, but I feel bad for letting that toxic stench into the environment. WTH is China using in this stuff?? There is still a residual odor in the back of my LD.

I used the stove and it was fine, but I did smell propane while cooking. I had the hood vent on, the kitchen window open, and two ceiling vent fans on ( the mystery one is working again....)

Also turned on the heater and seems I smell propane when that's on, too. So i turned it off for now. Smell is gone.

Will have it all checked again before I go anywhere.

Now I have to watch Netflix.  Good night.

I can relate, Lisa. I was constantly hitting my head in my last RV!  ;)

May I suggest hanging heavy blanket between the cab and rest of RV.  The largest source of heat/cold come from the front windshield area.
Also a see-thru windshield is a good investment.  -- not cheap but you don't feel like your in a cave.

One hint to keep the cab cooler or warmer is to turn the dash HVAC control to "Off", when parked.
If left in any other position, wind can blow from the outside, through the vents cab's dash vents, into the interior.

A heavy blanket and a see-through cover is our choice too.
