Propane quick connect in RB
I've been thinking about adding in a QC for a Wave 6 heater ever since I spent 2 weeks in my RV needing to use the RV furnace.  I decided to do it after I had the stove replaced for a recall (leaking saddle valve washers).  I was going to go the route of making a flared copper tube the right length, but the stove was connected with a flexible pipe, so I figured that was good enough (and I got it free from the stove trade out).

Looked on the forum and the parts kit from RV Solar Electric is no longer available.  I did a lot of puzzle building with parts from HD and Amazon.  I put in a T below the horizontal T to the water heater. Ran the flex pipe over the furnace vent tube to a ball valve. Then a 90° elbow up and 90°back over through the 3/4" plywood underneath the stove to the QC valve.  I fastened it in place with a pipe clamp around the last elbow and the flex tube, and replaced the myriad of zip ties that LD put in around the wires and tubing.

I tested with official leak test solution and all is good.  Now I just have to get the heater before next winter.  Hopefully by then the over-demand/covid price hike will be back to normal prices.

I also made a door in the side wall of the under cabinet so I could easily reach the valve.

Oh, and you cannot get to anything under the stove by removing it.  It is completely boxed in with plywood in the 2021 RB.

Nice. And, you used the correct pipe dope, i.e., yellow for gas!  ;)  Where did you get the blue cover for the QC? (I didn't find one that fit.) Thanks for a source.

Joan, I got the whole QC, both ends with a dust cap on ebay MR. HEATER F276187 3/8" PROPANE NATURAL GAS QUICK CONNECTOR HEATER PROPANE
I see dust caps listed on Google. I think the problem is getting the right name for the product. Although there are two sizes ...1/4 or 3/8

I realized after I asked that the dust cap/plug probably came with the QC. I found a few on Amazon; will measure and order. Thank you!

Wished I seen your message earlier .... while on four week long trip we start smelling propane, I reported the issue to LazyDaze and they did not say anything about stove recall and just ask me to get in touch with stove manufacturer. We were in the middle of nowhere but fortunately I found propane detector in home depot and confirmed that propane was everywhere in the coach and of course propane was very strong inside stove. We were in motorhome for about a week while propane was everywhere (detector goes on but I thought it was Indian food smell), I do not want to think too much about what if .... but am not happy that I was not notified about potential issue. Took pretty long to find a dealer who can took us on emergency basis and according to technician stove was not repairable and took it off line. This actually help us to continue with our trip and we were able to use other propane appliances. I am in constant touch with both LazyDaze and stove manufacturer and after two months they told me today that this stove is recalled ..... hope this experience is not typical in motorhome world.

Apart from stove our tv was defective and replacement was defective as well and third one I received yesterday is brand new and guess tv issue is in the history. Fortunately replacing TV is DIY job.

Beside these two issues, I am very happy with the motorhome and I think it was worth two years wait. Coach itself seems to be built very well and new chassis is holding up pretty good. Since Feb when we took the delivery, we have three trips and spent 6+ months in the motorhome. Next year we will spend three months in Florida trip and seven months in Alaska trip.

When I decided to purchase motorhome I was not sure if we will continue as we did not have any experience and my wife was reluctant partner and now we are talking about spending around 10 month of 2022 in motorhome :-) I am already working on next phase and perhaps Earth Cruiser on Fusco is in my future in 1-2 years. Reluctant partner in this venture mentioned NZ and Aus road trip !!!!

We used to take cruise and were taking organized land tours and motorhome has shown a new dimension and we like it ....

Digressed ..... coming back to stove not sure how and where Linda got her information but this is not widely known information. Hope folks can use this information ....

I did not have all the facts and I think it would be better to state all the facts ....

Lazy Daze did tell me that stove in my motorhome was in recall list and that stove was repaired under recall and they tested stove for hours before pickup. Lazy Daze did go out of their way to work with Stove manufacturer on my behalf (Dominic seems to be taking their time to return my emails) and though their hands are tied due to recent supply chain issues but I got an estimate on when I will get new stove. I already have an appointment in two weeks and I might be able to keep my Florida plan on schedule. I also saw similar pattern from LazyDaze when TV vendor did not respond to me and LazyDaze rolled their sleeves. Nice to know I am in good hands.

I already hijacked this thread but do need to know if anybody is able to ship motorhome across Atlantic and how motorhome perform in European roads. Any pointer to travel log will help ....  Lazy Daze is very solid and we are happy and I do not see any reason spending half plus million on expedition vehicle. I understand high shipping cost of big vehicle. I do not see myself needing four wheel drive on regular basis. I hope my perception will not change post Alaska trip latter 2022.

"...need to know if anybody is able to ship motorhome across Atlantic."

Yes, of course, you can ship anything for a price. Our Military does it every day of the week, shipping military members household goods and even automobiles. When I left Germany in 1994 my VW Microbus was shipped to New Jersey.

However, a word of caution, the streets and roadways in Europe are very narrow, particularly in small towns and villages. A vehicle the size of a LD may be impossible to be driven there. I put a lot of miles on the Microbus and a VW Notchback but could not even imagine doing that with a vehicle the size of our RVs. The RVs are much smaller over there.  :o

That's what I thought plus I am not sure American truck servicing, perhaps a land cruiser and tent on the roof but after Lazy Daze we are spoiled .... Thanks

This reminds me of Tessa, a forum member who, several years ago, bought an older LD and took her children on a year long trip around North America, she wanted next to take her LD to Europe for a year. After several warnings from forum members and some research, she decided her LD was too big and rented an RV in Europe.

I can’t imagine driving a wide LD in Europe, you will be stuck using the roads that the tourist buses use, assuming that it is even legal to drive an over-width vehicle there, it can be difficult to navagate some roads in a compact car, many streets are extremely narrow, more appropriate for horse carts.
Rent an RV there, the French and Germans love their RVs, so there are many choices in what to rent..

You are absolutely right Larry. Since 2017 we been to 80+ countries and Covid brought us from South America to home in NJ and we been traveling in US even before we got LD. Messages here confirmed my understanding that taking LD overseas is not practical.

Europe is just an example I am 62 and my wife is 60. Health is an issue but then who knows how much time is left. I think US and Alaska/Canada will keep us busy for next 3-4 years or may be more …

Renting RV for what we want to do is not practical and with stock market performance last few years expedition vehicle is not out of reach. It will open few doors or should I say roads but so far savings muscle is been used extensively and switching to spending muscle is not easy. I talked to EarthCruiser and gas Fusco can be transported in container and serviceability worldwide is not an issue …

I know EarthCruiser has one year wait but I do want to enjoy Lazy Daze in coming years and see our beautiful country. LazyDaze is built well and exceeded our expectations … will see where we stand in few years. Perhaps we can outsource driving and take few long trips from Dragoman … we still remember the pampering during around the world cruise. Weakest link is health otherwise sky is the limit.

Speaking of expedition-style RVs, we have seen a lot of them over the last six weeks during our fall trip to Nevada, Utah and the Grand Canyon's North Rim, every one of them has been found in a campground or on an easy to access boondocking spot, places we could to get our LD into. The sheer size of these vehicles prevents them from using many backcountry roads and camping areas.  These observations are the same as what we have seen for years.
For us, the combination of our LD, used as a base camp, and the Jeep for extended day trips, has proven to be a good, comfortable combination.
Definitely, YMMV.

The big, 4X4 Sprinter conversion vans may be a better choice for your overseas adventures, Mercedes service, and parts are available worldwide.

Thanks Larry. I have no interest in military style truck camper which we have seen used mostly by Europeans. Even if interested, there are not much option for US based customers.

Before LD I looked at Sprinter very hard and stayed away when I realize I cannot have enough water or batteries due to weight constraint. At that point I was not worried about 1) high roof not able to get in container … RORO is twice as expensive and not safe compared to container plus container have many more options for ports 2) space … we can survive in tight space but if cabover design give couple of more feet and full bath, why not … another factor was unavailability of diesels in SA and Europe is also slowly getting away but I understand Sprinter has gas engine now.

Next time pay attention to Tire size … been in sprinter and seen driver took it impressive roads but I rather have little bigger tires.

At this point Mitsubishi Fusco seem to be a good balance for us but each time I look around EarthCruiser is 50K additional expensive and not sure in few years when we are ready I can afford it.

For now enjoying beautiful USA in our beloved LazyDaze.

Thanks again Larry and God bless you for investing time for educating folks like me.

Hi Muhammed;  When I was with the Lazy Daze contingent at the Abqq hot air balloon Fiesta, I wandered down our corner and talked to the owner of an Earth Cruiser expedition style MH.  While watching the vid that Kent referred to by Matt, he visited us to film our LD. Never saw that anywhere, but he did interview the owner of that Earth Cruiser.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3VPAeFdu3s&list=RDCMUCBHww2yk8soPJ9IcbZ0n_Uw&index=3

Thanks Ron. Thought Earth Roamer is more widely known in US market but this one is Earth Cruiser (as for price they are pretty close with similar features). Earth Cruiser may start taking Earth Roamer market share with recent announcement with models based on Ford truck. I think they also have truck campers as well. I guess this link will have more then we want to know .... EarthCruiser - EarthCruiser Overland Vehicles Mitsubishi truck now come with gasoline engine and this is what they offered during recent conversation.

I saw your post with lot of interest about recent improvements to your LD. I am not as handy as your are but can keep dreaming.

Cheers
