External propane
Hi all. I have family staying in my rv so taking the rig to get propane is not easy.   We had a stay extended installed to we could hook up to an external propane tank.  Since we did this the propane flow to the rig is poor.  Burners on the stove don’t burn fully.  Prior to this everything worked fine.  We had the regulator replaced but that did not help.  Any thoughts.  The work was done by an independent rv mechanic

"We had a stay extended installed to we could hook up to an external propane tank."

What happens if you remove the 'external LP tank' from the Extend-A-Stay connector? Does everything return to normal as previously described?   ::)

Extend a stay propane hook up

Might be something here that will help.

Hate to ask the obvious questions, but...when you say the regulator was replaced, I assume you are referring to the regulator on the LD tank - not something on the external supply tank/line? There should be no regulator on the supply tank or line feeding the Extend-A-Stay since the LD's propane regulator comes after the supply tee.

Also - with the external propane supply attached, have you turned off the valve on the main LD propane tank?

Adjust the new regulator till you get proper flow or pressure (11 inches of water)

More information please.
With the new propane device, does the stove work properly when the propane is supplied by the Factory, internal tank?
Is the problem only seen when using just the external tank or ?

An external tank, with an overly sensitive excess-flow valve, could be the issue. Close the external tank's valve, lightly tap the valve, in case the excess-flow valve is sticky, and then turn the gas on very slowly, when the valve is first opened.
If that fails, close the external tank's valve and open the main, internal tank, to pressurize the system, and then slowly open the external tank's valve.

If that doesn't help, you might try another external tank. One of our 5-gallon tanks has sensitive excess-flow valve that take several tries to get full flow, when using the grill.
If the stove, and other propane appliances, work fine off the main, internal tank and not on the external tank, adjusting the regulator's output pressure will not cure the problem .

FYI - Refillable propane tanks are required by Federal law to have excess-flow valves. In case of an incident, that opens, breaks or damage a propane line, the excess-flow valve detects the greater than normal flow of propane and either restricts or cuts the flow completely off.
