Replacement Insurance on Lazy Daze January 02, 2019, 11:56:36 am I remember reading awhile back about National Insurance being a good replacement policy. My current auto/home insurance company gave me no comfort when i tried to inquire about replacement rv insurance. Does anyone have any recent info to share about National or others (good or not)? National has given me a reasonable quote and replacement schedule. As always I appreciate the knowledge and experience i have learned in this forum. Thanks againRandy
Re: Replacement Insurance on Lazy Daze Reply #1 – January 02, 2019, 12:20:36 pm We have National Insurance and we’re very satisfied with the policy and price. In addition, they have a reduced rate when the RV is in storage. Essentially it eliminates the driving liability while stored. It’s easy to request the storage rate and to remove it. Once the storage rate is removed it can’t be reinstated for 30 days. Hope this helps.
Re: Replacement Insurance on Lazy Daze Reply #2 – January 02, 2019, 02:13:40 pm I would suggest calling some insurance agencies that specialize in RV insurance...someplace like Miller's Insurance in Oregon. One caution...when asking about Total Loss Replacement coverage, be sure that it's for a 5-year period; i.e., if your RV is totaled in the first 5 years, the insurance company will buy you a brand-new rig. Thereafter, you'll get the amount you paid for the rig.I once ran into a company that *said* they offered Total Loss Replacement coverage, but when inquiring further, it was for a period of only 18 months! So it pays to check!
Re: Replacement Insurance on Lazy Daze Reply #3 – January 02, 2019, 03:50:34 pm Thanks much Ed and Margee and Linda. The salesman at National did mention the 5 year window but its not included on the quote. I will clarify that is in fact the case as it looks like this is the best direction for me at this point. And i appreciate the heads up on the storage as well because that will come into play as well. Again, thanks much and Happy New YearRandy
Re: Replacement Insurance on Lazy Daze Reply #4 – January 02, 2019, 08:16:58 pm In addition to National General, I obtained a quote via a broker from Progressive. I haven’t insured with Progressive before but their rates were better than National for like coverage with Total Loss Replacement Cost coverage. Let me know of the results of your research as I haven’t bound coverage yet. Warren 1 Likes
Re: Replacement Insurance on Lazy Daze Reply #6 – January 04, 2019, 08:37:44 am It always falls on deaf ears, but I will say again that coverage/rates from the same company vary by state and even zip code. Don't take my word for, talk with your state insurance commission. It makes no sense to tell someone that resides at a distance from your experience with an insurer. It's meaningless. That said we are pleased with Ameriprise through Costco. However, they may not even be in your states or the rates may be much higher than other companies in your area.

Don't take my word for, talk with your state insurance commission.Even if two people are in the same state and zip code, insuring identical rigs, premiums can be different based on things like driving record, whether or not they've taken a driver-safety class, or what their credit score is.
Re: Replacement Insurance on Lazy Daze Reply #8 – January 20, 2019, 08:01:47 pm Ed and Margee, i should have clarified about National. I (like Warren) obtained quotes from National General. There is also a National Interstate that promotes itself as an rv specialized company. (Dont know which one is the preferred RV insurer) My current insurance company with whom i insure several autos and my house cant find Lazy Daze in there information. But Im reluctant to go with them as they do not offer rv replacement options. I am also looking into our Costco/Ameriprise connection as well. Thanks everyone and yes I do understand variable such as location, age and other factors.
Re: Replacement Insurance on Lazy Daze Reply #9 – January 20, 2019, 08:59:46 pm Just an FYI. National Interstate no longer offers RV insurance or at least that’s what they told me when they offered to set me up with another RV insurer and cancelled our policy. That was around June or July. Oh well whatcha gonna do?Kent
Re: Replacement Insurance on Lazy Daze Reply #10 – January 20, 2019, 10:57:52 pm Thanks Kent, that clears up that option. What else was interesting is that i got a replacement quote from National General. My current homeowners/autos (4 of them) policy is underwritten by National General but our contact at our independent insurance office told us she could not offer replacement rv insurance. She also could not find Lazy Daze as an RV manufacturer. So between Ameriprise and National General I should be able to nail down something in the next couple weeks. Thanks again, very much appreciatedrandy

That's ridiculous...Lazy Daze has been in business for decades! Did you make sure she was spelling the name correctly..."Daze" instead of "Days?"
Re: Replacement Insurance on Lazy Daze Reply #12 – January 21, 2019, 03:18:21 pm Yea, it was actually kind of funny. She asked to read me a list from which to pick from and I spent at least 10 minutes while she listed every common brand known to man. Our local agency has gone away from us having "agents" like in the old days who knew the business and now "everyone" at the agency can help us with our needs, so they say. After speaking with Ameriprise/underwritten by Progressive this morning, they are more expensive but the policy is much more clear as far as replacement insurance is concerned. Looks like our best option so far. I have another week to nail it down.
Re: Replacement Insurance on Lazy Daze Reply #13 – January 22, 2019, 02:31:15 am As far as I can tell NADA still has Lazy Daze motorhomes, and the insurance company, like credit unions, should have a copy available for their own use. Give your agent the Lazy Daze website, and she can look it up for herself. RonB
