What do subscription prices go for?
Can subscriptions be monthly?
Which company?
What equipment?

Thanks

Hi Ted. As far as I can tell you have two choices; Direct TV or Dish Network. The last I heard from other RV'rs was 'Direct' didn't want movable satellite customers. Most people using 'Direct' already had residential service, and could take a secondary receiver with them in the motorhome, just for trips.
Dish Network on the other hand, actively recruits RV people, by allowing you to turn service on and off on a monthly basis, doesn't charge extra to do that. Of course they are hoping you will just leave that service on full time. The base rate per month starts at $35 (about) and goes up if you add more stations from their available options.  RonB

Back in the day (not too long ago) Diectv standard receivers for home use could be moved into the RV without notifying DTV and no extra charges would be assessed.

Things at DTV have changed. So that scenario is no longer an option. RV DTV can be upwards to $50 additional per month. I’ve tried to work around the DTV roadblock with no real success.

Many RVers have used DISH network. In the past, it cost around $50 a month and you were able to shut down service periodically throughout the year due to seasonal changes in RV travel.

I’ve been out of touch as of late, so I’m not exactly sure what the pricing structure is currently. Here’s a link to DISH. Get DISH Satellite TV For Your RV | DISH

Let us know what happens. We have the roof top sat antenna but have never set it up except when Todd demonstrated the system with his DTV receiver. One day.

Hi Ted and Kent; Santa just gave me a 'Wally' receiver. So now I'm looking for a roof mount antenna, since I don't actually have one on the roof. An 'elf' also delivered the plug-in hard drive to store watchable shows on.
This one receives West and East coast (and in between)    DISH® Tailgater® Satellite Antenna - KING DT4400 - Portable Satellite...

And has a roof bracket to allow removal to somewhere nearby, in case you are parked under a tree.    KING Quick Release Roof Mount Kit - KING MB700 - Satellite Antenna Accessorie....

I'll actually have to find a place inside for the 24" HDTV and mount first.  RonB

I use the Dish for RV service. I have the small light Tailgater antenna which I deploy when needed with enough cable to get around trees and such.. If I just don't pay the bill. billing stops until service is restored. An easy phone call is all that's required to pay balance due and restore service. It also allows local location to be changed. I think for around 250 channels it's 90.00 a month, but I only have it connected a few months a year.
