On a related note, space tourism is almost upon us.  Virgin Galactic conducted a successful major test today from the Mojave Space Port::

Wow! Thanks for that post Colddog, you hit my interest spot dead on. Since I was a small boy growing up on my Grandfather's farm in rural upstate NY I have been fascinated with the heavens. No city lights where we lived.  ;)

That same fascination put me in an astronomy class in Jr. College where I soaked up everything I could learn. I even put my knowledge of electronics to work by fabricating a "Binary Eclipsing Star Simulator", thereby earning extra credits in the class.  ;D
