Toad roadmaster/brakes install suggestions
Hello LD forum friends, after several months of looking, we finally found a low mileage silver 2013 Honda CRV AWD to use as a daily driver and toad. We are in Long Beach CA, and would welcome any suggestions of where to start to get the most professional Blue Ox/Roadmaster tow plate and tow bar install at a decent price in Southern California. And I guess we need brakes too, and not sure what else. Guessing my LD needs some wiring too. We have a local Uhaul that does allot of custom hitches, so I will start asking questions there. Does the Mothership offer any of this wiring work?

I do plan to go to Quartzite in January, Iā€™m guessing I could have it done there too.

We ordered white/gray  2018 27' mid bath 1/3/18 and we are hoping for a July 16th 2019 delivery, sold, and tried a Lithium Travato, wish  I would have kept the Lazy Daze 27ā€™

You might want to start with the dealer locator tab on the Roadmaster website. Also, you could check out the services at Redlands RV; I have no personal experience with them, but they seem to have a good reputation.

"And I guess we need brakes too,..."

Good choice on the toad! I tow a 2008 CRV and daughter LazyBones2 also tows a 201? CRV.

As to the aux. brake I recommend the Stay-IN-Play system. I used one on a 2002 Civic and also my 2008 and daughter has one on her Honda. The unit is unobtrusive, out of sight with nothing to install or remove every time you want to tow. Just run the gears (Honda recommendation), throw a switch and go.

I have a 2011 CRV,  Roadmaster Falcon All-terrain towbar,  SMI Stay-in-play brake system.
I might consider the Blue-ox  towbar on a do-over, simply because it shows less hardware when unhitched (less things to trip over on the unhooked towd).    Very happy with the SMI.
Tow bar, base plate,  SMI brake,  rewired tail lights ran about $3K with installation.
Mothership installed 7-pin plug that I provided during construction.

PM me for more details & I'll pull the file out.

I suggest you first study the instructions of the baseplate options from both Roadmaster and Blue Ox. For our '13 Fit I chose Blue Ox primarily because it retained the steel bumper behind the Fascia - which the Roadmaster eliminated. I wanted to retain a similar crush performance to stock in the event of an accident. The bonus is also nearly invisible hitch attachments at the front of the car when disconnected. Also recommend the SMI Stay-in-Play.
