Another thought:

As a single woman. I'm reluctant to buy used on multiple levels. For starters, personal safety. So while I may end up buying new when my retirement time comes, I have a new possibility: buying used off this board.

When shopping RVs, learning about them and their pros/cons, I stumbled upon this board, and it has really stood out. LDs and their  owners are just 'different.' More like a community. While you all may not actually know each other personally, you certainly share an internet friendship here.

Those of you looking now for a used LD might be able to 'research" the seller and their RV, just going through messages on this board. In my book, this could add a degree of comfort when buying used.

LOL. This my first post, and it looks like I'm trying to sell an LD. Not at all. But I am enjoying your community spirit. Maybe one day, I'll be among you.

Cheers and good day, DW

I have moved this current post by DW to the Campfire forum from a 3 year old thread. It will get more visibility here.

Thx, Chris.  I missed this post before, & it came after I'd found my rig, but (though I may not have had the personal safety concerns) it is exactly why I was able to find exactly what I wanted.

DW is exactly right about the sense of community & friendship here, even though we are geographically dispersed.  Many thx again to Dale Dollins for volunteering to eyeball my rig, which contributed to me getting on Amtrak & heading cross-country to begin one of the greatest adventures of my life...and then all the help from the community during my recent cat defugilty.   ;D

DW, 'twould be fun to have an update--have you made the leap or are you still looking?  I enjoy & learn so much from other people's journeys.

When I was RV shopping I found what I thought was a great deal on a Phoenix Cruiser with extremely low miles in Seattle. I was all set to go buy it and had cash in hand when the guy said something that was a red flag. Said his sister owned a used car dealership so we could do the deal there and she would do the paperwork and put in a lower purchase price to save me tax money. Something sounded fishy so I googled the guy and found out he was a well known member of a gypsy crime family who was always getting busted for selling cars with the odometers rolled back.

Interesting that this note from DW has re-surfaced. Apparently the group made her feel comfortable enough that she bought our '05 RB last year....so thank you all very much for making a newbie feel at home in the LD community. We had the same experience back in 2001 when we first started looking at LD's.

Ted, there is a 2005 listed in the "Non-member Classifieds" category on this board that appears to be your former rig?  The notice was posted by a member of the forum, not the seller of the rig.

That's very interesting for sure. That's definitely our former rig - complete with the UC banner on the rear.  Hmmm, it's rather tempting to call and make an offer. Unless something happened to the rig since we sold it last year, someone ought to be getting a darn good deal at that price.

Go for it, Ted. We want you back.
