Re: Battery on/off switch Reply #1 – August 11, 2018, 12:34:21 pm Hi Ted. This one should be air tight, used for marine applications. LD mounts them in between the two batteries, in the vented enclosure. The last thing you would want is hydrogen gas around the batteries to light off from a spark inside the switch. Perko Compact Medium Duty Main | Battery Disconnect Switch This one is pretty large, and may have to lay down flat. I've never seen the one that LD uses. Next time I'm at the factory I'll have to remember to look in the battery compartment. RonB
Re: Battery on/off switch Reply #2 – August 11, 2018, 12:42:04 pm Thanks.I am not sure how it would fit between the batteries.I’ll want it on the battery compartment wall.
Re: Battery on/off switch Reply #3 – August 15, 2018, 06:00:10 am I think Ron means wire it up between the two batteries. You could do this and still mount it on the compartment wall.Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone
Re: Battery on/off switch Reply #4 – August 16, 2018, 02:48:09 am Hi Ted and Jane. We all have TKB floor plans, so our layouts should be similar. I've never felt the need for a battery disconnect, it's too easy for me to just pull off one of the connections between the two 6 volters nearest to the vented door. If either of you really want to be able to turn off the house batteries, it is best to not disrupt the wiring more than you have to. I found a much smaller switch that would fit electrically between the house batteries, physically easy to reach near the outside door to the battery compartment. It would move with the battery tray. 0 1 2 GAUGE HEAVY DUTY 12-VOLT BATTERY ISOLATOR ON & OFF KILL SWITCH DUAL... Bare wire ends would fit into the cups. Use electrical tape to protect bare copper from acidic gasses and water. RonB 1 Likes
