The Sky is Falling, The Sky is Falling!!!!!
It is the time of year you need to find a clear sky near you if you can dodge the smoke, clouds or other earthly events to watch the heavens put on a show.  Yes boys and girls, moms and dads, uncles and aunts.  Chicken little was correct.  THE SKY is FALLING, and it is a very special show just for those with the good chance to have a clear sky; the ability and will to look up and a fine glass of wine might help.  The best viewing takes place on a weekend.   Perseid Meteor Shower 2018: When, Where & How to See It

Thanks John. Sounds like the perfect time to be near 7,000 feet with nearly a 360 degree view.

Works for me.

Wonderful!
Assuming California's fires don't obscure the sky offshore, we'll be watching!

On that note, another big fire is burning, starting today, north of highway 74 in the area of Trabuco Canyon in southern California. Chaparral is over 8 feet tall and hasn't  burned for decades. I've ridden trails in the area and the terrain is tough. Good luck to residents and firefighters!

Deer Park may be the place to go in the Olympics over 5000 ft there should be a good show, if clouds and smoke stay away up here in the NW?

Thanks for the heads up, we will be out in the San Juans Islands, it should be dark, with good viewing if the clouds stay away for the evening.

I’m hoping the Clouds part and allow a partial view of the sky here in Virginia. There’s a lot of light pollution so won’t be a spectacular as out west. Happy camping everyone.

We always remember this shower since it always falls on DW's birthday.  If I ever forget her gift, I've got it covered!  Other than possible light smoke from all the fires, we should have a good view from our property @ 5600 ft.
