I think a big question is what / where you plan to be.

Since we plan to be out in the boonies once we start traveling, the big windows in the TK are a big desired feature - wake up to nature, hang out with nature during the day.
If you will be in RV parks, the big windows are not a plus (neighbors close by).
Also, considering where you will be staying, in some states the national parks do not allow RVs larger than 30'.

Will you be spending most of your time outside of the RV?  Seeing city (big or small) sights, visiting friends, etc.  So it is a place to sleep/get ready for the day and you might not care about the windows.
Or will you be spending more time inside of your RV and want that view?

While life may change, thinking about where you will be in your RV and what you might be doing will help make your choices.

"TV watching on the couch is not my thing."

Chris

TV watching on the couch (or anywhere else) is not my thing.

I fail to understand why one would drive untold miles and then sit in their Lazy Daze to watch TV. I can do that much more comfortably at home. I travel to see new sights and sit outside viewing new vistas. TV is an opiate!   ::)

There are cold days, hot days, rainy days, windy days, dusty days, buggy days plus the evenings when TV watching (if one is so inclined) is pleasurable. On those days when I want to enjoy my opiate, a recliner is nice.

Isn't that why DVDs were invented?   ;)   :D

I think that they put the two barrel chairs on the driverside of the MB lounge because it is shorter then the passenger side, that way they can put a longer couch 6'-4" to fold out as a bed and accommodate a longer person.  We made a queen bed out of the couch on the passenger side of our rear lounge in our MB and we don't fold it back as a couch except unless we need that space for seating(usually never) or when we get it home and need to clean up.  We don't necessarily like having the second couch on the drivers side but it gives you a place to put unorganized clothes and things.  Plus we really need the outside storage which it creates under that couch.  I promised Karen when we got this LD that I would not put or hang anything outside it, so chairs, tables, umbrellas etc have got to fit in those storage spaces!

Thank all of you for some very useful information. Based upon the feedback here I am definitely going to take a close look at the barrel chairs. I had a chance to sit in the dinette of a 27 MB and it just felt really comfortable to me. Much of my work is on a computer so I would spend a significant portion of the work day at this location.

And yes, my goal is to spend more time outside of the LD than inside but I still plan to spend much time reading, post-processing pictures, etc. so much will still be inside. I disconnected from cable TV eight years ago and unplugged me TV entirely around six years ago. :)

"On those days when I want to enjoy my opiate, a recliner is nice. "

If a recliner is desired, and the weather is not cooperative, or if it is night time, or if that is how you sleep . . . a full-up La Fuma recliner fits in the aisle of our RB (sofa on driver's side; two chairs/commode table on passenger side) with ease.  This produces no congestion for lying on the sofa, sitting in the chair closest to the entry door, getting out the door, cooking in the kitchen, using the bathroom, or sitting at the dinette to work/watch/play.  It is a bit awkward for climbing down from the overcab bed, but even this old lady has minimal difficulty doing it.

Apart from the longer 31-foot unit, I don't think this could happen in any other floorplan, but I haven't measured to be sure.  We are happy with the openness of the RB.  The open windows all around provide an enormous amount of light throughout the coach, and it isn't unaesthetic to leave the bathroom door open - there is another huge window back there.  The commode itself is out of sight entirely.  You see only the inoffensive sink from the front of the coach.

For a single traveler, it seems like Nirvana to me.  Even with two of us, it is still a pleasure to have everything so open.  We had a 40-foot Mountain Aire DP before this, and the only thing missing on the Lazy Daze is the dedicated bedroom in the back.  We can live with that!  ;->

Um, Steve, at the risk of being a little cheeky, on what sort of device do you view those DVDs?   ;)

"...on what sort of device do you view those DVDs?"

That's a reasonable request Lynne.

For some time now I've been using a Sony VHS/DVD, Video Cassette Recorder/DVD Player, Model #SLV-D550P.

This one is some years old and I am unaware if comparable items are still available.   ::)

Hey there Chet,

Your inquiry was not in reference to the RB, but you did raise concerns about making and breaking the twin couches for nighttime and daytime use.

My DW and I shared the daily routine of making the beds each night. That lasted for maybe two trips in our RB. Never again will I bother with that chore.

Our bed/couches take about a minute to go from day use to night use. The twin couches are never pushed back in but always pulled out partially.

Comfortable memory foam pads and some soft shams and day pillows make for a very comfortable couch. Swap the pillows at night, grab a blanket and “Voila” the work is done. No muss no fuss.

So no matter your choice MB with twins or 30’ TK there is no real need to hassle with the tedious chore of “breaking bed” every day.

Expansive views? The MB is great but the RB is no less spectacular. As is often the case, being backed into a campsite, I find the side views of the RB to be quite engaging. Here are a couple of pics to illustrate the openness available in the RB.

Over the years, new LD hunters/buyers have been advised to see as many LD models as possible. As I’ve mentioned before, I was sold on the MB until I stepped inside the RB.

Decisions decisions.
