Shakedown trip was a resounding success
We recently returned from a week long trip in our new to us LD and I'm glad to say it was everything I hoped for. Previously we had a camper on a pickup and for twenty years it was our RV. Then I guess it shrunk or something because my wife said it had become too small so I bought a 27 ft trailer which was nice for bringing everything and the kitchen sink but we both soon realized it was just to limiting on where we could go with it and campsite length llimits were an issue. Enter the 23.5 LD which I figured would be a good compromise. It's bigger than the camper and more comfortable by far but my theory was we could still be nimble in it. First off I was able to make reservations at three campgrounds without even looking at length limits, loved that. Secondly while cruising down the highway there was a couple of times we saw signs to trailheads and I turned up the narrow dirt road without hesitation, no worries about if I would be able to turn around once I got in there. Loved that too. Third was an interesting experience in Seaside Oregon. We wanted a seafood breakfast so I found a restaurant online and proceeded to follow the directions to it. Suddenly I was in a very old part of town making a left turn onto an extremely narrow one way street with cars parked on both sides. I paused and looked the situation over and proceeded with caution watching my mirrors but had no problem and even was able to find a place to park on a bigger road just a block from the restaurant. Then came camping itself. Very roomy and comfortable and the big windows really makes it nice to hang out in. The other nice thing opposed to a trailer was one day we decided to spend the day at the beach which was just a half mile from our campsite and we just drove over and set up for the day right on the beach. (See avatar) All the comforts of home for the day and then we just drove back to our official campsite that evening. No overnight camping on the beach or I would have stayed there. This thing is going to work for us!  :)

BTW  (Bit off topic) don't tell anybody if there is no 'no parking overnight' sign you can spend the night in any turn out on Highway 101/1 in Oregon.
