Car thieves have a new dirty trick June 29, 2018, 08:05:50 pm Ok so I don’t know how well this would apply to us as LD owners but many of us own cars also. This YouTube video outlines a new trick that car thieves are using to gain access to our cars. It may not be here in the States but it may be soon enough. This is purely an FYI. So no need to panic. https://youtu.be/1ZeCaBflofEStaying alert.Kent 2 Likes

Re: Car thieves have a new dirty trick Reply #2 – June 29, 2018, 08:38:47 pm Thx, Kent--I so appreciate all these little goodies that people find & share. Even if this fails Jim's Fact Check, it's still a good reminder that I should be more observant & check things out, rather than my typical jump-in-turn key-drive...followed by "OMG, what's that thump...thump...thump?" Keep 'em coming. Lynne

Re: Car thieves have a new dirty trick Reply #4 – July 02, 2018, 02:41:31 pm Aside from the video, it serves as a great reminder to do a 'walk around' before hopping into your LD and taking off. I remember one or our members - or perhaps an acquaintance - found his tow equipment had been "adjusted" by pulling the pins. When the motorhome started to pull away, the tow car was disconnected. A 'walk around' takes just a moment to take a look and assure oneself that all is well. Always vigilant,Juli W.Minden, NV'06 26.5 RB

The gooseneck only dropped into the bed.In the last millennium, I noticed a PacBell technician had a traffic cone on a post on the rear bumper that he dropped every time he stopped. I asked him why he did so. It appears that the need to pick up the cone and look behind the truck reduced their accident rate by 50%.When I pull out from camping, I stop a few feet down the lane and walk around the rig to find closures forgotten, count towd connections and see anything that was left under the rig. Found things too many times to ignore the procedure.Still valiantly fighting that losing battle against clutter,Joel

The habit for me is a holdover from camping at Curry Village. Once everything was packed in the truck, I would scour the cabin for any lost articles. Now the LD departure gets “ground clearance” before I head down the road.Kent 1 Likes
