Lazy Daze mirrors, can they be folded in halfway, and still be used?
I have a tight driveway that I hope to back the 27’  LD down, and  I was wondering if I could fold the side mirrors in halfway on both sides, and still be able to to see behind me when backing up?

Kristy also thought of putting a temporary foam edge on the outside of the mirror, just to keep them from being scratched when doing this. Thanks in advance for your advice. 🐯

Fully extended, do they work when towing a toad or small trailer? Can you see behind the LD with them?

We ordered white/gray  2018 27' mid bath 1/3/18 and we are hoping for a July 16th 2019 delivery, sold, and tried a Lithium Travato, wish  I would have kept the Lazy Daze 27’

Tiger,

My driveway is 11’ 10” wide. I pull in preferring to have the coach door toward the house for easier access.

The passenger mirror while extended is 1’ 4” from its edge to the kitchen door.

The drivers mirror from its edge is 8” to the driveways edge although I have another 1’ 10” of grass along its edge.

The drivers mirror folded 1/2 way in gives you a view along the side of the coach but it requires that you lean over the steering wheel for that view.

Each mirror gives a clear view of what’s along the side of the rig. To see directly behind I use the RB rear window to see approaching traffic.

For a view of your toad, you can turn on your rear camera and see things in the monitors screen.

Here are a few pics of what I mentioned.

Hope this helps.

If the mirrors are folded, you cannot see out of them unless you loosen the mirror's set screws and readjust them.
It's a PIA to do.
A rear view camera is invaluable, as well a good assistant, when backing up.

While towing, with the mirrors you can see the sides of the LD but not in back. Toads and trailers are narrower than a LD.
The only time you will see a trailer or toad in the mirrors is when making a tight turn.
A lens in the rear window can help but the real solution is a rear view camera. Our camera is on all the time while towing.

I prefer these portable mirrors. If your arms are long enough, you can see your toad or trailer.

Newer rigs probably don’t have this issue anymore but look in the archives and type in “exploding Velvac mirror” and enjoy the reading. We had this happen to the DS mirror. Since then the mirrors on our rig have never been folded in again.

Quite the surprise to find your mirror on the ground for no apparent reason!!!!
