Atwood/Wedgewood Replacement Range Grill/Grid Replacement
My range grill that goes over the top of the burners) is the original in my 1998 Lazy Daze.  I do have the original paperwork and the model is MPD 56280.  I don't suppose there's any chance in finding a replacement?  The one I have is sagging in the middle and turns red when the burner is lit.  I don't think the gas pressure is too high.

I'm thinking if it's too old and I can't find something close, I'll get someone to fabricate one for me while I'm still here in Mexico.

Could someone please respond to THIS post?  ;-)

If the OP is having trouble finding this older part, I'd suggest you give PPL a call at 800-755-4775.  They have an amazing amount of RV inventory.  Hope this helps.

The one on Amazon looks right. Probably fits a lot of their product line.

If you decide to have one fabricated, I would go with using stainless steel.

I suggest also getting a supply of rubber grommets for the feet on the grate; Atwood grommets are available from several sellers, including Amazon (Amazon.com: Atwood 57049 Grommet Kit, 4-Pack: Automotive), but they are ridiculously overpriced!

I get a couple dozen 1/4" generic rubber grommets at Ace Hardware (or another) for a couple of dollars; they work fine and are very inexpensive to replace.

Thanks Gini.  It's close in size, but mine is a little different in the configuration.  The grate number is Wedgewood 56261.

Hi Cheryl...yes, I realized mine too has the long oval circle front and back. I got a little frustrated, and took it outside and banged it back into shape with a hammer...grin..and it seems to have solved the over heating in the two bars that were hanging down close to the flame. That front burner is much harder to regulate..even on low it is too high, always has been. Vince at the factory told me it is supposed to be a high-heat/flame burner compared to the back two. And I do use it for my pressure cooker, and other larger cooking utensils..hard to keep things from burning, again, even on the lowest setting.
I originally had the one in front bend down so I switched the grate--and then that over heated and bent down. I may or may not replace the grate since the hammer application has at least temporarily stopped the bending..we'll see how long this fix lasts! Are you still at Rocky Point? I'm at Park of the Sierras in Coarsegold, CA for a week or so more, then heading out. Thought about heading that way. Would like to meet up and learn the ropes from you if you're still there.

Hi Gini. Thanks for the info on the grate (56271), it is like mine in a '99TK. You can tell the front center burner is high output by the burner pictogram next to the knob being in red ink. The other two burners are marked in white ink. I could never understand why they put the center support bar directly over the hottest burner. I suspected the grill was left over from the four burner stove top. (all four burners the same heat output). The support bar would miss the burners. When Atwood noticed the problem with the sagging grill they switched to the one with oval cutouts.    RonB

Hi Gini - the one you had a link to will fit according to Dometic (who bought out the product), but the link you got to purchase isn't any good.  You can't put it in your cart.  My grate has the same "sag," but hey it's 20 years old.  I've searched high and low, but can't find a replacement.  I think the best option is to have someone here fabricate/repair the old one.  I'm not as concerned about "cosmetics" as I am with functionality.  I'm here in Puerto Penasco until the 3rd week in April - just before the Mexican people get off for Semana Santa (which will be crazy and people packed).  I don't know how much I can teach you about the ropes, but it would be nice to meet you.  :-)

OMG, I never noticed the markings on the front of the stove.  I'm wondering what type of material (aluminum, stainless steel, etc...) would be appropriate for a "hot burner."

Hi Cheryl. Stainless Steel for sure. I would go around the hot burner. Aluminum would melt. Stainless would discolor into blue-orange rings but shouldn't lose any strength. RonB
