Re: My experience with roof repairs with Eternabond & Polyurethane Reply #25 – December 08, 2017, 10:15:22 am Age is only one factor in the "Can I do this job?" query. Obviously, one's overall physical condition, e.g., eyesight, flexibility, balance, stamina, strength, and several other factors is more critical to deciding whether to do a job or leave it to someone who possesses these attributes. I know people who (for various reasons) were pretty well physically shot at 50, and a few, men and women, who are still very capable of doing demanding rig maintenance tasks at 75 or 80. But, it's a simple fact that we all slow down as we age; the subtle little 'discoveries' that we make about what we used to be able to do effortlessly and that now take more time and energy and cause more strain can come as unpleasant revelations! The body says, "You want me to do what? Seriously?" Despite increasing numbers of 'reminder' experiences, I'm still a bit surprised and more than a little nonplussed when a previously simple, straightforward task now is much more of a time, strength, and energy-consuming 'chore' (not to mention more 'challenge' getting on and off the roof and on and off the ground, particularly the required 'scoot around' under the rig!) I believe that each person needs to realistically assess his/her own 'physicality' and decide if the potential of aches, bruises, stiffness, and whatnot of doing a physically demanding job are worth it, and, if one can do the job properly without shortcutting. The realization that one is not now what one used to be can be disheartening, and when one's nephew races around to offer a hand to make sure the old woman can get out of the truck (an F-250 4X4 is high!) without faceplanting in the driveway, one might experience a 'mortality jolt'! As ever, YMMV. 4 Likes

Seriously?" "Mine frequently yells at me, "What did you do & why did you do it?" to which I give the same response that irritated my mother from my earliest memory, "I don't know." , and suffer the ensuing consequences.Lynne 1 Likes
