Serro Scotty Class C
I'd not be surprised that a lot of RV people already know about a Serro Scotty Class C.  My goodness, what an interesting RV.  I found this link about the Serro Scotty which I've enjoyed reading.

Serro

It would be a great treat to see one up close.

11K tow rating √
Turbo Diesel √
Eight - count 'em - eight wheels √

Downsides:
Rear overhang... Duals need to be where tag is, and tag farther back.
Exhaust pipe right next to door -- although I guess it needs to go somewhere.

I had actually thought about tag axle on a longer LD, to try to bring capacity back up.  It would be tough to install in an already tightly-packed layout though.

A guy in our town had a smaller single axle Scotty with the Cummins.  About ten years ago I inquired about whether he might like to sell it.  He smiled and said "Not a chance."

My dad always wanted one of those Scotty's years ago. He liked the 4x4 for hunting.

Six wheels - neither rear axle is a duallie. This means longer but shallower interior intrusion of the wheel wells. Also much more head room and easier access for the bunk - but less so for the cab if you like to keep the bed made. I don't think rear overhang is much different from a LD of comparable cabin length. Cab foot room a vast improvement over the cutaway.

26' model for sale near Ridgecrest, CA if anyone is interested:

1995 Scotty Diesel 4X4 Motorhome - cars & trucks - by owner - vehicle...
It has 238,000 miles on it .
I know it's a diesel but that is still a lot of wear and tear on the both the chassis and the coach.
Interestingly, the owner uses photos from eight years ago rather than taking new photos, showing its present condition.

$18,000 seems a little high for a hobbyist vehicle but if someone just has to own one, it's worth a through inspection.
I would want a large contingency budget.

We actually looked at them, back in the mid-90s at the Pomona RV Show, but the high cost and the additional several feet of length, the result of the long hood, turned us off on them.

...but I couldn't lie in bed & look up at the stars; I do love the big windows both along the side & at the rear (where my head is) of the twin beds, plus the windows & openness in the lounge section.  I recognize, when I read many of the discussions, the lusting over increased CCC/towing capacity/mechanical & engineering *stuff* but I am continually amazed at how everything about this design & floor plan & *windows* meets my wants & needs beyond my expectations...it was love at first sight, 'til death do us part.  When the time comes that I can't travel, she'll still be a retreat at the farm, 'til I can/t get there  or they "pry [her] from my cold dead hands" (with no apologies to Chuck).   :D
