So many tragedies that it breaks my heart and leaves me wondering how our world will survive.

As this article and similar incidents suggest, we need to remain vigilant since not many places are really all that safe.  That unfortunate couple were just doing their job.  So sad.

Life has always had it risks and in a country of 326,000,000 people, there are going to be thousands acts of violence each day.
It's always been that way and probably always will.
Is the world really that more dangerous today or does the media covers such things better today than they did in past?

Modern media technology ensures we hear about every incident like this and grinds it into us non-stop, 24/7.
It's one good reason why to stop watching so much TV.

As Ed & Margee point out, these folks were only doing their job.   I suspect there were warning signs with this individual.
