I got two all-expense paid tours of the waters off Vietnam on Yankee Station. Plus a 3-month in-country assignment to keep the Air Force from shooting at Navy Planes on strike missions. I was 100% on that.  8)

I knew I’d seen you somewhere before, Don. Just kidding, but I was also in that part of the world in 1971 & 1972. USS Ajax AR-6 at Vung Tau, repairing PBRs and other coastal patrol craft.

Thanks to Ed and Margee for starting this thread, and thanks to all our veterans out there.

Eisenhower published a proclamation in the Federal Register, instructing citizens to recognize Veterans Day on Nov. 11.

“On that day, let us solemnly remember the sacrifices of all those who fought so valiantly, on the seas, in the air, and on foreign shores, to preserve our heritage of freedom, and let us reconsecrate ourselves to the task of promoting an enduring peace so that their efforts shall not have been in vain.”

Also let us not forget that on Nov 11 there were about 10,000 casualties  and around 2000 deaths before the guns went silent at 11:00 AM.

My gratitude and appreciation to all of our Veterans as well, and to those currently serving!

Just returned from overseas where our president was following us, I think.  He flew into Beijing from Seoul after we left Hong Kong and was getting ready to fly into Clark just as we were leaving the Philippines.  The night before we left Clark, we talked to a detachment of Marines who had just arrived to provide security for the visit.  Some of them had just arrived home from Afghanistan to only have to turn around to provide security for Trump's visit.  I'll only say they were less than thrilled at the assignment.  :-X
