LD 26.6 vs boat launch September 21, 2017, 06:36:37 pm Does anyone here tow and launch a boat with their 26.5' Lazy Daze? I haven't tried yet but I am a little concerned about clearance on the ramps. With how low it sits and the long wheelbase I don't want to bottom out.
Re: LD 26.6 vs boat launch Reply #1 – September 21, 2017, 07:26:43 pm I have done it. The ramps I used were nice ones on the Columbia River and Sequim Bay. I have seen some that challenge 4WD pickups too, so you would have to assess the ramps you will be using. Hardest part is backing a small trailer you can't see till it is turning on you, but then, I enjoy backing trailers. 2 Likes

Re: LD 26.6 vs boat launch Reply #4 – September 21, 2017, 08:36:57 pm We also installed a front trailer hitch with 2" receiver on our 98 MB. I have not used it as a trailer hitch yet but as a place for bike rack etc. I have had a front hitch on my older itaska and have used that for boat trailers and I would not go back to a rear hitch for around and use of ramps plus the drive wheels are usually out of the water. Re: LD 26.6 vs boat launch Reply #7 – September 22, 2017, 11:30:05 am We installed this one from amazon, I bought the heavy duty grade 8 bolts & nuts and may have had to re-drill a couple holes. Installation was about ah hour, using a floor jack made the job go much faster. Re: LD 26.6 vs boat launch Reply #8 – September 22, 2017, 12:21:30 pm Boy, does this make sense...watching what you're doing in front of you, instead of all sorts of gymnastics to see behind...another reason for the LD instead of a TT, since I even have trouble backing up the lawn cart attached to my Baby Deere. Re: LD 26.6 vs boat launch Reply #9 – September 22, 2017, 12:41:12 pm If you've never tried it you'll wonder why you waited so long.I had front hitches on both of my Ford Club Wagons ('84 & '94) and used them to spot, 1st a tent trailer and then a HR 30' TT. Once you have one it's like Kindergarten to back something up! Also had a front hitch on my '77 IH Scout! 1 Likes
