Blu-Ray And A Hot Spot August 20, 2017, 12:45:34 am I made some upgrades to my iPhone upon returning from Yellowstone. My 5c was having a difficult time making a good connection to the charger. Not good when you're down to 18% and no way to charge your phone. Having Direct TV (now owned by AT&T) and AT&T as our cell carrier we got an opportunity to save $ on the DTV bill and pick up a BOGO for two iPhone 7's. Along the way, I replaced the Blu-Ray player in the house. I picked up the Samsung J6300 that has a built in Smart Hub. Wow! Now I have Netflix, Amazon Video, HULU, Pandora and the internet on my Blu Ray player. Add DTV to the mix and who's got time for the LD? Not!Here's the best part. I put a second J6300 in the LD with all the same apps. With our AT&T unlimited data plan and 10 GB Hot Spot, I may never put my LD satellite dish to use.This week we'll see how well this works as we take our first "Whole Family Vacation" to Big Bear. Even the three dogs will be joining us. This is bound to be a real adventure.Movie night could be very interesting.Kent 4 Likes

"I keep three of these little stand-alone chargers on hand. One in our "hospital bag", and two on the shelf for day trips. They are good about holding their charge, but I drag them out about once a month to give them each a boost at the electric buffet. We each have one in my family and I try to keep mine charged at all times.In my case, the connection on my 5c was unable to accept the charge consistently from any of my Apple certified charge cords or 12 volt power adapters. I never experienced that problem with my iPhone 4 which had a more robust pin receptacle.Just a sign of the times I suppose where smaller is better or simply a matter of "planned to fail" to support Apples bottom line.Either way, I am enjoying the 7.Kent

I prefer this type of connector over the often used micro USB for charging because of the positive snap when you plug it into the phone. But, there is a known problem with pocket lint collecting in the iPhone's lightning connector causing charging problems. I found out about this when my iPhone 6 quit charging reliably and I took it to the Apple store. One of the genius techs told me it happens all the time and he spent about 5 minutes with a sharp plastic toothpick thingie and a small can of compressed air. Hopefully that's what's wrong with your iPhone.FYI - there are several websites where you can sell your old iPhone 5c. I've used Glyde before with good results. The iPhone 5c is currently going for $85 - $280 depending on carrier, memory and condition.Good luck,Jack
