1989 MP- Propane level always shows full August 06, 2017, 08:29:05 pm My "information center" showing battery charge and tank levels has worked great, until the last propane fillup. Since then, it has always read full. At first I chalked it up to summer use- that it really was still full, but it took 8 gallons today, so I know it was pretty close to empty. So far, I've confirmed that the wires going to the propane tank are connected. They are. I can continuity test the wires to make sure they aren't broken from the info center to the tank, but have no idea what else to try. Anyone know?
Re: 1989 MP- Propane level always shows full Reply #1 – August 06, 2017, 10:40:14 pm The propane level potentiometer is typically magnetically coupled to the float inside the tank. Take part pick up magnet see if you can move the tank dial around.

You should probably include that in your checks, as it's usually the first connection to fail under the vehicle.Chip
Re: 1989 MP- Propane level always shows full Reply #3 – August 07, 2017, 04:54:50 pm Just so we're clear on what we're talking about, is this a removable vertical (DOT) tank, or a permanently mounted horizontal (ASME) tank? I don't know when LD switched, but my 1985 had a DOT tank with a nonworking sender of some kind.

Re: 1989 MP- Propane level always shows full Reply #6 – August 08, 2017, 10:17:45 pm Thanks. I don't have a gauge mounted on the tank, but the sender should operate off the same principle correct?

My 1988 Mid Bath has an ASME horizontal tank and a permanently(screws) mounted gauge . My Class B has a 2004 tank with magnetically coupled snap on plastic indicator. 1 Likes
