Things We Dislike about RVing
My list of 10 things which we don’t appreciate about RVing.  This list is certainly not all of our “items” but it’s a start. 😉

1.  Rocks that fly
2. Sneaky gravel
3. Bird size BUGS
4. Basketball size potholes
5. Washboard roads
6. Un level campsites in 3 different directions
7. $200 gasoline fill-ups
8. Nasty, filthy dump stations
9. Golf ball size hail
10. Most any thing falling out of trees onto our LD

As Kent often says, “ I’m just saying” we don’t appreciate these aspects of the RV life.  And we’ve experienced 9 of these first hand.  😠

Nevermind things falling out of trees, trees themselves, especially sneaky low branches.

Getting passed by semis in the rain after a wash, or worse, being passed right after a rain, while the pavement is still wet, but no more rain to rinse off.

Finding my favorite campsite occupied.  I prefer out of the way state forest campgrounds. Here in Michigan they are first come first serve. Nothing worse than a long drive to the U.P only to find someone has beat me to my site.

Being charged for having pets.  The cats Aren't Even allowed outside. Tried leashes with previous cats, but neither ever quite figured out what those collar things were. They don't bark either. I wasn't allowed in a desert campground because "they might escape and catch birds". Haven't been back there! (about 30 years ago).
Also Rangers saying I can't get a spot because I'm too long to fit. I had already parked and fit fine. So I had to lead the Ranger over to my site and let him see for himself. He let us stay!  Good thing I just drove in and got the spot, while he was at a different campground. (Arizona, near'ish Sedona)
One more... Late at night, (9:00 PM) couldn't drive anymore, Potato Patch in Arizona. Lights on, 100+ sites no one there, no host, totally empty. 8-1/2x11" sheets on all of the bulletin boards, printed in big letters "PLAGUE" as in Black, Bubonic plague.  Below freezing, stayed all night anyway... didn't pay, didn't go outside again, hopefully no squirrels with fleas, left early!   RonB

We have not had large hail while camping but we’ve had golf ball size in our neighborhood which resulted in 100% of the homes getting a new roof.  Last year, my neighbor’s new Airstream was at a local dealership for service and was a victim of large hail.   It was painful to see.

Sitting in my toad on the main street in Fredericksburg, TX some years ago I experienced golf ball sized hail for the better part of ten minutes. I thought I was going to be deaf. My LD a few blocks away did not sustain any damage... perhaps the cloud didn't go that direction!  ;D
